my friends and i are looking for a 6 bedroom house around campus. pretty much everything is either substantially far form campus or run by a real crummy landlord, so its kind of a tight squeeze now. especially since they all keep getting grabbed up fast now.

Move to DC, mang! The market here has completely bombed so they're practically giving apartments away.

Does this (http://www.apartmentcities.com/Utah/Salt_Lake_City_UT.asp) help any?

^Holy crap those are cheap! 2 bedrooms for $700?! Damn.

My friend just bought a BRAND-NEW 2 bedroom 2.5 bath townhouse in North Carolina, and is paying only $900 a month in mortgage. Even with the lowered prices because of the shitty market, DC housing is still ridiculously high.

the apartment I am in is a three bedroom, which cost $990 per month. Considering the neighborhood is pretty okay, I assume there was a misprint. Its on 32nd and Lyndale Av So, and I was insistent that we need not bother checking into it because it was obviously supposed to say 32nd and Lyndale Av No...which, I guess unless you're Documad or DipDipLara, you wouldnt know that Lyndale North runs thru the epicenter of crime within the metro area...nevermind :o

anyway, I just scanned a lot of local papers.

I look in the paper and craiglist every day. I just drove up and down almost every street in the avenues today looking for shit and there was maybe 6 for rent signs, all of which were 1 bedroom or way out of our price range (like above 1200). SS, thanks for the link but almost all those apartments are located outside of Salt Lake in the suburbs n shit. I know a ton of people who have decent places in Salt Lake, just nothing seems to be up for rent!! We just barely started looking seriously within the past few weeks though so patience is the key I hope.

drive thru neighborhoods and look for "for rent" signs. A lot of landlords rely off that.

lol had I read your whole post rather than skimming it I would have read that you did that :o

i get rocked for my apartment because these bastard landlords can charge anything they want since they know kids will snatch them up even if there are holes in the walls

i move in to my mortgage on january 31st

not really sure if it was the best decision but we shall wait and see. everyone keeps telling me it's the right thing to do, and I feel like it is, I guess. But I also feel like I am going to be financially raped up the arse :( I wanted to take this little kitty the other day, but I just couldn't because I wasn't sure if I would have enough money for food, vets and all that. So now that I own my own place and can keep pets and stuff I can't afford to.

I concur

try to find a 4 bedroom house with a decent sized yard, to rent, when one of the girls freaks out over blue carpet for some reason, in San Diego, for $1950 or less.

AHAHAHA.

I really like looking for an apartment if I have some breathing room. Ideally, I'd probably move every couple of years.

Naw... I'm talking about doing it willingly, leisurely. I don't think you did 10 in 15 because you wanted to.

No. It makes you hate yourself for buying things you wanted, then you don't know what to do anymore except for wasting money on alcohol cause,at least, you don't have to lug that around ...
