I've been off on maternity leave since mid-April of 2006. I'm not really returning to work until early mext month, but tomorrow there's this really big major meeting/training about how the way we used to do "everything" in changing, and if I miss this meeting/training, I just won't have a clue what is going on when I do go back. So my boss asked me to please try and make it, if it is at all possible.

So mr.p is taking the day off work to take care of the baby, and I am going.

Which means tomorrow morning, I am going to get up, get dressed in business clothes (like, without spit up or pureed peas on them or anything!), leave the house and get on a bus and a train with my laptop in my briefcase (not a diaper bag!), and go into a building full of other adults (who will not have small monkey-like creatures hanging off of their arms!), and have conversations with them about things like...like... god, I don't even know (instead of about things like starting solids, crawling, sleeping through the night, and all of the other fascinating topics that make up the majority of my conversations these days).

It's kind of freakin' me out.

My friend's going through the same thing - and no pun intended, take baby steps! She's going back part-time and then working her way back to normal hours. I'm sure you'll be fabulous tomorrow though, it'll be hard but might be fun!!. And make the most of your last few weeks off - it won't take long to get back into working life (unfortunately)

Awwww you'll be fine! :)
I've been back since late October (just 3 days a week now weee!) and at first i felt guilty for actually enjoying being at work...but i know Ava is well looked after at the nursery she goes to.

Has Mr P ever looked after Mathilda on his own before? The first time my hubby looked after Ava for a full day i panicked like hell and wrote a huge list of what to do and when. I needn't have worried. :D

But yeah, enjoy your day and the *gasp* adult conversation. Don't try to take everything in because if your anything like me it takes the old brain a while to get back in gear after so long out of the working loop.

The cuddles you will get from Mathilda when you get back home will make it all worth while.

LOL no he has never had her on his own for the whole day, the most has been maybe 2 hours while I've been getting my hair done or something. Should be quite an interesting day for the two of them as well, not sure which one will be crying harder when I get home!

I keep biting my tongue and reminding myself "he will do just fine", or else all day I would have been saying things like "If you're going out with her you need to make sure you check the diaper bag to make sure you have at least 3 spare diapers" and other really inane stuff like that.
