The best ever. Unique. Awesome. Pure skill and creativity. The guys is a true legend.
Everytime I see his videos I start to laugh. A happy laugh. A laugh of "OMFG!!!! I can't believe this guy".
Well, I just wanted to share my respect for him with the people who likes skateboard or knows him.
Check this out. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ey9j6hCNbhg)
yeah, i remember watching his videos in the tony hawk games (2 especially). he does shit that makes the stuff you do in the game look lame, seriously, i can't believe him
I love Mullen. I'm not really into his handstand shit....but when he incorporates his early "freestyling" skills into grinds, slides, or what have you...thats when I am like..."fuck yeah rodney....fuck yeah."

Inside one trick he does other 2,3,4 tricks. Man, he's unbelievable.
I think even the Rodney Mullen from the games can't compete with the real Rodney Mullen.

yeah it's tech, but most of it's pretty corny too.

i watch his shit and sometimes wonder if he's maybe not human and actually an alien from a more advanced skating planet. Guy's a genius.

you crazy.
I just watch his stuff and think wow, you're standing on the spot, flipping the board over in about 1000 different ways, throw yourself down a 50 stair rail already, you pussy. plus it doesn't look that cool either. style is everything brah.
it's just so out of everybody's league in terms of technicality that it's almost irrelevant.

Caspers are the shit. And you have to respect the guy who invented the kickflip.

I'm a fan of his since I was 10, back in the Bones Brigade days, he had the Chessboard/Crown board by Powell back then. The Darkslide is so freaking cool, but I'm most amazed at his ability to spin around his own axis like 30 times and not get dizzy. BIO! (y)

He's just fucking great. And say he doesnt have style is stupidity.

Eric Koston has style. Rodney Mullen has style like a hyperactive child has style.
Junker
01-16-2007, 05:26 AM
Koston is another fucking awesome skater. But Mullen is a god, a legend. Just face it.
And if Rodney Mullen doesnt have style, then skateboarding is a waste of time.

Yeah I wouldn't put Rodders in the style list. Koston for sure. But Mullen birthed that kind of skating.

Born * 17. August 1966 in Gainesville, Florida. Father was a doctor and multi-millionaire, , according to wikipedia.

word but he doesn't really need to show people that he could grind a 50-stair rail. people would just be all "that's great - now darkslide it..."

hahahahaha.......sorry!!! :D
Yeah!!! The Questionable video!!!
PS: Im really a dumbass :p
was that the one where he is talking about how he loves doing calculus for the fuck of it and loves classical music? I can't remember which vid that was but I know I've seen it somewhere.
And Mullen is my favorite because I prefer flip tricks, lip tricks, slides and grinds over big air, not by much....but enough.
Junker
01-16-2007, 03:27 PM
Well Rock, I know he talks about this calculus thing on the Rodney Mullen Biography. I sincerely cant remember if he talks about it also in the Plan B video.

This was my follow up question....Is Rodney still killing it? I've been off the
sk8 scene 4 years now. I know alot of the P&P inovators of my day are running the scence from the inside now. Is Mullen competing anymore?
How do they do it? My fuckin' knees and ankles are shot to hell. These guys r older than me!!!! I don't understand......

I think that waaay back in the stone age it might have been common, but this style of riding with both feet pointing forward in the middle of the board is way freaky as well...

it was interesting seeing a bio on him but i just dont find his skating style as fun to watch as today's more common street skating.
for example, i'd rather watch daewon that rodney.
the jason lee clip was cool :D

Just search whatever you use to get porn for "Blind - Video Days" It's a tight sk8 vid!
BTW: Mike Vallely, who is also in the Rodney bio is a tough SOB. Gotta love him for always brawling with selected assholes and security guards...

i always got a little bit annoyed with mike V with all his flamingo's and fights...

for serial? I think Mullen was the one that got all the manuals and flip tricks involved in street skating. If it wasn't for him, I doubt we would be seeing kick flips to nose mannies to kick flips out...and tricks of that sort. And as great as Daewon is...I think their skills and somewhat styles are very similar with all the flips and manuals and what not.

Video Days was one of my favorites. I would just put that on every day and watch it over and over here at work until I accidentally deleted it.
Mike Vallely is fucking crazy. One year he is beating the fuck out of some random jocks or security gaurd and the next year he is in South Africa trying to make some sort of social commentary on the people there as he skates around. Weird guy....but one of my favorites. I love how he still throws in old school moves.

I just watched Rising Son, the Hosoi documentary. Dude was really living it up, came down hard, at least he was already a well-known celeb when they put him in jail. Of course, he discovered Christ there. His kids are named Rhythm and Classic Hosoi.
