There's a track on one of Eddie Harris' albums that sounds very similar to Funky Boss.

Junkyard Band has inspired them a bit I'm sure. I know they play Sardines on the Root Down Ep.

Actually..it wasn't Eddie Harris. It was Allen Toussaint's Funky Bars. (http://www.beastieboys.com/bbs/showpost.php?p=1098916&postcount=1)

Kool Moe d vs. Busy Bee that's one you should know
This is probably the song that has influenced the beasties the most in their career
Here is a small list I made of when the beasties have referenced this song ( I am sure there are references I might have missed)
The beasties also played this song or battle on their radio show.
This battle has also influenced a lot of other hip-hop songs.
Try listening to it and you will hear what I mean.
-Root Down (Kool Moe D vs. Busy Bee that’s one you should know)
Drunken Praying Mantis Style (sad crew, you high? I will join you for one in 5 min)
-Super Disco Breakin’ (is Manhattan in the house?)
-Live at P.j.’s (can I get a soul clap?/ break it down to the nitty girt going to tell you all something why you aint shit)
-Four Fly Guys (cocaine crew say blow!)
-Three Mc’s and One d.j. (know body can do it…)
-The Maestro live 94-95 tour also on root down e.p. (what’s your favorite sandwich, where’s that place we working out? The house the house!)
-Beasties opening up for Madonna live in St. Louis 85 (ad rock warming up the crowd “say sex, and more sex, say I like it, I need it”)
-Shake your rump pageant tour (somebody, anybody, everybody scream!)
-Hold it now hit it 92 tour (sample a bit of the instrumental playing in the background)
-Intergalactic (kick off your shoes and electric socks)
-Get it together and Finger Lickin’ good ( I can do the patty duke)
-Shazam (super-dooper mc party pooper)
-Squat (signing off)

i know that from the movie WildStyle but i don't know who the MC is sayin it:confused:
omg i'm tryin to picture that with a bunch of tweenie madonna fans & their parents ahahahaha:eek: :p
i think that the "Old School" era of hip hop is one of their biggest inspirations.

I was just listening to this song called “Grand Larceny” by Ice T off his album Power.
Anyways the samples that “Grand Larceny” uses sounds very similar to the samples in hurricane’s “stick em’ up”

“Superappin’ #2” by Grandmaster flash and the furious five has influenced a lot of beastie songs like:
“Alive” (dip dip dive, so socialize, open up your ears and clean out your eyes)
“No Sleep Till Brooklyn” (lemon to a lime a lime to a lemon)
“Cant, wont, don’t, stop” they sample this song
“Do It” (Adam Yauch grab the mike cause you know you’re My Mellow)
Another grandmaster flash song “dreaming” is where the beasties got the line in “pass the mic” (you think we’ll ever meet Stevie? One of these days d)

A lot of those are misquotes. I know for a fact that during the pageant tour MCA would say "everybody in the motherfucking place say" then all of them/the actual track itself/the entire audience: "hooooooo!"
