Big Gus

There is no link. They never release any info about the games till they are ready to go.

Rockstar North are mainly based in Edinburgh, I got a good pal whose an animator for them and worked on GTAIII and Vice City. (His names the same as mine, look out for it in the credits ;) ). Anyway he's been working on this one for nearly 2 years now. This will be special.

I love the GTA games, in fact it's up there with my favourite series of games of all time. I've enjoyed them all from the very first. :)

During Microsoft's 2006 Eł press conference on May 9, it was announced that Grand Theft Auto IV would be available for the Xbox 360 and that Rockstar will offer exclusive episodic content via Xbox Live for the Xbox 360 version. This had been confirmed by Rockstar, announcing two extra, exclusive episodes.[5]. After the press conference, Rockstar Games' parent company, Take-Two Interactive, posted a press release announcing Grand Theft Auto IV will be released simultaneously for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms.

Peter Moore, head of Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business division announced that Rockstar Games is working on two downloadable packs for GTA IV exclusively on the Xbox 360, which will probably be available within months of the game's release date. Moore described the downloads as "epic episode packs," and not just an extra car or character. A press release during the conference said that the packs would add "hours of entirely new gameplay" to the game. .[6]. There have been no details on pricing of the downloads revealed. The nature of exclusivity on these episodes is still in vague detail. It is possible that the Playstation 3 version will also include its own exclusive episodes and unlockable content.[7].

As it says, the ps3 could also have this content but they have yet to announce it.

One thing they didn't mention in the article is that the Radio Station will be a throwback to the one in GTA3. Simulating real radio but with entirely new songs recorded just for the game. I liked GTA3 radio quite a bit so I expect good things.

XBOX360 and PS3, skra. *hands you a kleenex* You might wanna take care of that...

Sorry for double posting, but if anyone is wondering what that non-English rap is, it's called "Seryoga" by King Ring. It's Russian rap. Here is the music video for it. (http://youtube.com/watch?v=mpigz1sMG_U) That would be interesting if they had more music from other languages in this game, instead of over-saturating the soundtrack with US licensed popular music.

Bob

i'm gonna buy it regardless just because i really like GTA, but i dunno, that trailer didn't really get me excited. it didn't make it look like the game was really going to do anything excitingly new, it didn't even look that good graphically for a next-gen console (which i now own!). not bad, just...not as good as i've been seeing in other games (mass effect, for example). and is it me, or did the framerate look not so hot? when you have a low frame rate in the trailer, i dunno...i'm not thrilled

still gonna buy it asap though

Miho
12-06-2007, 03:37 PM
I didn't notice any bad frame rates, but keep in mind, this is still an unfinished product. Regardless, I'm not bummed out because the graphics aren't top-of-the-line. It still looks like a big step from GTA III.

Judging from the trailer, the theme seems to be about Nico rising from the top, taking out all of the competition, as if he's obsessed, scaring even his own friends.

Favorite scene from the trailer: "So you in big guy? Or we're gonna have to kill ya"

Nico: "Well, since you put it that way, I'm in"

i guess it's kind of mean of me to speak ill of the graphics; i mean it's going to be a very ambitious game, with a huge playing area, lots of people and cars on screen, no loading times, even going in and out of buildings (last i heard, at least), i mean something's got to give i suppose. and it does still look good

That looks sick. I'd shit my pants in excitement if it wouldn't take 25 minutes to pass rabbit-poo.

Hopefully they made 'The Warriors' as a way of tuning the fighting mechanics. I'd like to see that type of control scheme utilised for GTA IV. PLus, the hotwiring mini-game rumour can be traced back to Warriors, as well. I was impressed. Looks dope.

KP, how was The Warriors?

Kid Presentable
12-06-2007, 10:12 PM
It was cool, but the fighting thing got kind of old. If GTA had that kind of engine when you actually diverted from gameplay and into combat however, it would be amazing. Input-based attacks as opposed to button pushes. The Warriors used stick-swings and directions if I recall (it's been a while) which would equal sort of a game within a game in that regard. Also, the looting mini-games worked for me because they were good for adding to the urgency of the crime. You had to do it properly, while at the same time trying to go as fast as possible to get the fuck out. Once you beat it, though, there wasn't much to go back for.

So yeah, if they took the (relative) complexity of the fighting stuff over to this one, I'd be pretty impressed. And it looks like they may have. I don't know. You could target an enemy and have a bunch of commands available, including punches, kicks and grabs, and within grabs you could throw, pummel or headbutt or something. Back and forth strength tests in grappling would work, I think. Just rambling, now.
