on the streets of Holland! (http://edition.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/europe/01/18/europe.storm.ap/index.html)
There has been a terrible storm here and now there's total chaos.
Many people have ended up in hospital, at least 4 people were killed because trees fell on them, buildings have collapsed and everyone is pretty much stuck somewhere.
Many travellers are stuck because it's so dangerous outside, and there are no trains, no subways no nothing. By car you can't get anywhere either. My sisters boyfriend has been stuck for 5,5 hours (on a bit that would normally take 30 minutes!)
The trainstation where I work was overcrowded. We got to hand out free coffee and sandwiches and many people we're sent to sportshalls, universities and whatnot to spend the night there. Amsterdam CS was closed altogether because at some point the roof blew off.
The scariest about it all is that soon the wind is going to change and they expect it to get even worse.
It's been called out to be an official crisis! A 'keep all doors and windows secured' type of thing. Waterlevels have also risen to way above emergency level.
I've heard this kind of stuff is also going on in the rest of Europe.
How are y'all doing out there?
