Anyone else a fan? Some of the best games the PS2 has to offer if you ask me....and the rumor is an online SOTC sequel for the PS3 is in the works that lets you slay the Colossi with a friend.
i could never get into ico for some reason, but shadow of the colossus is really fucking amazing. the sense of scale, the graphics, and even the story is pretty damned good for a video game where only one character has any lines (agro! nooooo!)

Hell yeah, SOTC is damn amazing. The ps2 really pushed itself on that one for those graphics because it was superb. I really got into that game while taking those huge monsters down.
In SotC, half of the experience is the soundtrack. Seriously. It's just that good. And it only took a staff of 35 people to create the game. I put this near OKAMI and MGS3 as one of my favorite PS2 games of all time. And I love the shit out of those games.

Speed run of the 5th Colossus. Too bad the music kicks in Right before my favorite part. Amazin'z.
also: It's only a rumor. The studio doesn't want to repeat itself but we'll see if money talks.

Yeah, I imported the Soundtrack. The music is minimal, but when it happens...it really happens.
One reviewer in EGM (a normally jaded gaming mag in terms of reviews, in my opinion) put it best when describing Ico..."It legitimizes video games as a form of art". Took the words out of my mouth...
Fumito Ueda, the man behind both games is a certified genius as far as I'm concerned. I'm sold...whatever they put out, I'm getting. I was happy to hear about the rumored sequel, but at the same time I'd like to see an original game. One that takes place in the Ico and SOTC universe, but with a new plot, characters, setting, etc.
Oh yeah, and I still need to get Okami. It's on my list.

I want to play them, but they're hard to come by. Looks amazing.

SOTC is $20 and available new (it's one of those PS2 Greatest Hits with the Red packaging) pretty much anywhere...but Ico you might have to eBay. If memory serves, I got my copy on there for $11.

Ico is import only here. SOtC might be around somewhere. I'd definitley buy it if I could find it.

Anyone with a 360 and into SotC should check out the new Lost Planet game by Capcom (well, new in the UK anyway).
Reminds me lots of SotC - not in visual style (although it looks great) more in "you run around for a bit then get to a big set piece boss battle" each level type way.
It's very good. :)

Yeah, I heard about that. Looks like an interesting game.
yeah, i only figured out what your avatar was about a week ago
for some reason i thought it was the cover of London Calling (http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P/B00002MVQO.02.LZZZZZZZ.jpg) for the longest time
shadow is an incredible game. the only part i didn't like was the last boss. i hated that guy.
Okay I can't remember the link but Ueda stated about a year ago that they're brainstorming on a PS3 title which either would combine things from ICO and Colossus (the platforming and big boss battles) or would be entirely different but based in the same world. As it pretty much clear that SotC is a prequel and is in the ICO world. It's also been stated that ICO isn't in SotC... so it's not him, only the first of his kind.
Damn, I went out of my way not to spoil that. I won't even try to speculate as to how the two games are related. *nerd off* But the last boss was too easy, I found. Maybe only because the other battles had me prepared for it all.

Very cool...I hadn't read that anywhere. I hope it proves to be true...anything else set in the Ico/SOTC world would be fantastic.
I do remember reading that Ueda confirmed the two games are in the same world, and that it is a prequel. But he leaves the rest up to interpretation...some even say that off in the horizon the queen's castle from Ico can be seen.
Only 5 more Colossi to go, and I'll have everything in the game done. The hidden items are sweet.
I co was re relaesed over here in the UK to co-inside with the realease of shadow

Ico was probably the game I was most proud of when I finally beat it.
I'll have to check out SOTC. Never played it.

Ico isn't a long game...it can be beaten in a couple hours or so, if you've got it down. But on the first time it's hard.

Well, yeah. Now I can play it and beat it in one sitting, but it took me about 3 months to beat it the 1st time around.

Did you get stuck at the area with the trench like deal, and the pipe? I was there forever...

It's been ages since I played it...but I remember some shallow water at the bottom of a trench like thing...and a metal pipe. Some bars were covering a hole-like passage also...
Ha...just vague images. But yeah...I was stuck there for eons.
