.. most boring task ever? i think so.
my objective always makes me laugh. i haven't changed it in 12 months:
A reliable and competent graduate who works well both as an individual and as part of a team. Resourceful and enthusiastic, with excellent numeric and literate skills and outstanding attention to detail.
i love that. i don't just have attention to detail, i have outstanding attention to detail. yeah right. except the first time i wrote it, i left one 'l' out of the excellent so it appears i was neither attentive or literate then.
i'm applying for a training scheme with working title films (ya know.. smokin aces, bridget jones, elizabeth, dawn of the dead..) for the freakin' third year in a row and it has to be BAD ASS. BAD ASS. any tips, people? i think i'm tiring a little. it started well but i'm going a bit nutso..
.. where I had the opportunity to learn from panels which discussed topics such as how international co-productions are structured, the rise of feature documentary production, film insurance in "high risk" locations, digital media and distribution and getting really pissed with all of the delegates and taking them to all my local bars in glasgow while listening to this girl from new orleans complain the drinks weren't "strong enough" and asking the guy from ohio WHERE THE FUCK it is because i sure as shit couldn't point it out on a map..
BORING. BORING BORING BORING.
i am going to write a total weeping heart cover letter though. totally. i'm the best at cover letters.. not so good at talking up my job history.
pooh!

I have no advice, I find CV's hard and draining and I always end up resorting to lies.
Good luck though!

Um. That's not an objective, is it? I thought an objective was a goal.

i really need to fix mine up for the job fair at the end of the month. i'm always on the edge of having more than 1 page, but i never end upexpanding it enough to go past that since i think it would look stupid with just a ocuple lines on a second page, but i probably should put some more junk in there.

ah, you see.. lies.
um, i'd rule out straight lying but is a little, um, bending the truth okay? like, if i perhaps lie about raising funding for the children's cinema charity when all i did was collect money, not, you know, actually actively raise £££ via a fundraiser or something, just my own little volunteering.
and being a member of organisations and clubs that i blatantly am not a part of but would be if i could be arsed just to flesh out that "personal interests" section..
is that okay?
You should mention that you're tall.

whatever, you can have an objective or you can have a "personal statement". that is part of a personal statement as i find it better to use that rather than a "i want to get to this place and you're gonna help me get there my getting this job" traditional objective, but they're both interchangeable words for "the shit at the front before your work experience". but, hey, if you want to be fussy then ooooohhh!

you see, mine is way too long. like, really too long. i actively sought "relevant" employment during my holidays from uni so i have long-term positions that i feel i have to include but.. meh. what happens when people have had lots of jobs later in life? i guess they only include the last 5 years or whatever.
just bullshit, you'll be able to flesh it out.

CVs in the UK are a bit different from a US resume. Here, it's customary to open your CV with a statement of your objective in sending the CV, i.e., "To secure a challenging position in a high calibre public relations firm that will allow me to utilise my outstanding media management skils and intensive research in the area of contemporary communications."
In other words, you write a big load of bollocks.

Right. That's a goal you stated right there, rather than just a list of abilities:
A reliable and competent graduate who works well both as an individual and as part of a team. Resourceful and enthusiastic, with excellent numeric and literate skills and outstanding attention to detail.

i think my dad's CV is like 4 or 5 pages since he's had all these weird jobs over the years and done all sorts of junk, so i dont think it really could be too long...
but i never really know what to keep, since when i first made mine to get internships they told me to put some things in there that really won't be relevant to any job that i apply for now

I have no idea what the difference between a CV and a resume are. I had emailed a question to U of Alberta and they replied that I needed both a CV AND a resume. WTF? Aren't the the same?
My coworker said in France the CV is JUST used for listing, the resume goes into detail. So that's what I did. Hopefully it's good enough.

Right. That's a goal you stated right there, rather than just a list of abilities:
fucks sake man, i may have named it an objective because traditionally people call the opening par that, but i accept it is more of a personal statement. they are INTERCHANGE-ABLE. jesus, i know you have to be right about everything but this is what i have named it all my working life so there it's going to remain. YES. I KNOW IT IS MORE OF A LIST OF ABILITIES AND LESS A STATEMENT OF GOALS BUT THAT SINGLE SECTION, TO ME, IS ALWAYS AN OBJECTIVE BECAUSE THE FUCKING AMERICAN C.V TEMPLATES YOU GET ALWAYS LABEL IT AS SUCH.
fuck! do you want to quote me again just so you can prove i am 'wrong'?
