I dont really think that means anything, because if you look at the beasties entire career, every single album they did, maybe with the exception of CYH and IC; it all changes, not one album is the same.
Look at LTI, and then look at PB, in just 2 or 3 years they made something COMPLETLEY diffrent, and then from PB to CYH and IC, and from IC to HN, it's all different, and HN was sure as hell not the same as TT5B.
Each year they've done something different, and each year they've lost and gained fans BECAUSE they did something different. But the TRUE fans stay no matter what, so I dont think we have anything to be worried about, im sure whatever they do will be good either way, (at least I hope) and I dont think the boys should be worried either.

I think it will be a 75% instrumental, 25% hip hop album, similar to CYH...the only thing that comes to mind as far as fans perhaps being shocked is something they've not done before. Who knows...but my interest is definitely peaked...

It's the "can expect to be disappointed" part that bothers me. Sure he was joking, but that's very specific wording. Coulda been "might be" or "we hope they won't be".
