I haven't played one of these games in a long time. Since the days of the original Nintendo, playing Gradius, or on the Super Nintendo, playing Super R-Type. In Japan, these types of games are common. They have them in the form of a horizontal, vertical, or even a multidirectional view. Does anyone else enjoy these games?

Edit: I mean spaceship scrolling shooters. There. :P

I'm referring to just spaceship scrolling shooters. Like Darius, Raiden, Xevious, 1942, Radiant Silvergun, and Ikaruga.

I was going to say Metal Slug, but moreso Gunstar Heroes. But that's not the thread title.

I really liked U.N Squadron on the SNES.

If you use Ryu, Ken, Guile, Sagat or Chun Li in most iterations of SF2, you are playing a side scrolling shooter at times. Right?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progear

So many examples of arcade-only spaceship shooters, like this one, Progear. Developed by Cave in 2001. It had a steampunk theme.
