I thought to myself just 2 or 3 weeks ago that I hadn't listened to it in years, so I put it on, and apart from maybe 3-4 songs, it really wasn't as good as I'd remembered it to be :/

I bought it when it first came out and I don't regret it. I remember listening to it when I flew to Australia so it'lll always have good memories for me. I haven't heard it all the way through for a while but when it comes on the mp3 player, I don't skip it

Haven't listened to it in a few years, but I'm sure it's still a great album.

I bought it when it came out, because I remembered the 'Honey' video being on MTV at night and I really liked that. I thought the album was so-so. I haven't listened to it much and now it just lies somewhere collecting dust.

Moby's Play is not a great album. it is a car commercial, a middle manager favourite, something that soccer mothers put on to feel contemporary.

And a damn good album.

Ha ha, I did buy it when it first came out, in high school. Then it got handed down to all my siblings when they hit that age and the previous owner got tired of it. I haven't listened to it in years now, if the line of succession holds true then I guess my little brother has it. Unless he gave it to one of our cousins or something.

nope, i listened to it hundreds of times on a comedown/after rAvInG and that kind of thing.
i regretted it when 6 months later moby did a tour, and it was re-released for the same price with a whole extra cd of remixes/tracks
i hate that!!

I have a friend who just LOVES that album. She never stopped talking about it and when I wouldn't buy it she bought it for me. I don't like it. But you've described her accurately.
I saw him play at a club a couple of years ago and he was better than I thought he would be.

I got it in high school for Christmas. Maybe. I don't remember what year, but it was Christmas.
My mom got me the double album, the one that came with the B-Sides. Brett doesn't have the Play B-Sides.

Meh, say whatever you like, but I appreciate Moby for digging stuff up from the beginning of the 20th-century and mixing it into a contemporary context. With or without soccer moms.

I always shared your view, Cosmo. But I once saw him play live, somewhere in 2000, and he was quite awesome. All the songs have so much more power on stage. Maybe because he plays with a band instead of using samples, and he has a big fat soulsinger lady. (y)
