definitely go and see it, people, definitely. is it even out in the US yet? well, put a date in yo diaries.

i almost peed my pants when forest whitaker came on screen first. he is that terrifying. but it was alarming how i was almost sucked in - i almost believed this man! the first half of the movie really does manipulate you into thinking he's just a (slighty deranged) friendly african giant, but then it gets quite twisted indeed.

james mcavoy is superb and he's making the glasgow peeps proud of him (y) the scottish elements and quirks are very funny.. the film is actually quite comic when, um, carnage isn't being had. really. bizarre. the african choir singing you take the high road while amin is in full kilt garb is so nightmareish it's unreal.

**LITTLE SPOILER**

i gave a little yelp when i saw (rather, after it registered the second time we saw her) what happened to kay. oh god. i'm so glad ranald didn't come to see it with me because he would have walked out.

i gave another little yelp of fear when they did, um, something to james mcavoy's character at the end. quite barbaric.

FUN FOR ALL THE FAMILY! um.. not really.

outstanding performances by all. made by the lovely kevin macdonald who i am a big fan of.. great documentaries. i've also met him once  he looks very foppish. he gave me his name badge. BOOYAH.

anyway. yes. please see the film and discuss here, kthanx.

Yeah, its really great. Forrest Whitaker is amazing in it, he goes from being completely charming to being terrifying in one breath.

(POSSIBLE SPOILERS)

Cuz its shown from Garrigans view point for most of the film your wondering when Amin is going to be revealed as the raving monster looney he was...and when he does, fuck me, its shocking. The last half hour is gripping. To be honest, i didnt really like the Dr Garrigan character, but Whitaker made up for that.

Top stuff.
