Last night a place that sits right next to my first home in this town caught on fire. I live now just a block away. Whie my friend was trying out the LSD simulator, I was drinking and my roommate was in her room drinking and I kept hearing the alarm from the fire station to call in more people from further towns. I start seeing a bunch of people on the street heading towards the building on fire. I didn't think it was close at the time and just didn't care too much. My roommate goes outside and says that it must be down the street because the police are all out there. By this time we were getting drunk. I look in the paper and discovered where it was and it really frightened me.

The thought of losing everything in a matter of moments is a terrifying one. My ex-boyfriend's house caught on fire and lost a dog. Few days later his grandmother died. One of my good friends from grade school lost so much to a fire at a house right across the street from me.

I'm surprised the fire last night didn't spread into the trees and finally towards the big propane tank sitting out there.

Have any of you experienced fires in your home of knew someone who did?

You musta been mean drunk or your paper is a speedy newspaper indeed. Anyway, I wouldn't be too worried, you have an oven mitt and to hell with material possessions. If you and your family or friends are safe it'll be ok. Unless you knocked over your Flaming Moe and started the fire yourself. You'd be paying the damage for years...

I should've said I read the paper this morning.
