i know a little about it, probably more than most other guys i know, but it's been a while since i've really done anything with it.
i always get mixed up with the start and end of a piece of thread and how to maxe sure whatever it is i am doing doenst unravel itself in a few days
i just got myself a cheap little sewing kit with various threads and a handful of self threading needles (which will save loads of time) so that i can fix up a big rip in my favorite pants, so i want to make sure i do a good job on these so they dont itch

Are you using fishing line to fix the hole?

i asked someone recently and i kind of forgot what they said. i think you're supposed to tie a knot somewhere when you start and when you finish. something like that

haha, yeah. I heard something like that to. The rumor mill is in overdrive today. I also heard you have to use this thread kind of stuff.
That's just what I heard.

I just started by beginners sewing class last week. I'm looking forward to knowing how to help in situations like this. :o

its not that i can't sew at all, its more than i want to learn how to do it more efficiently so it doesnt take me an hour to do a little thing
the rip in my pants is like 8 inches long and i feel that it will take me all day to get it done at my current speed

oh.. aye aye!
i kid.
whenever some garment or other comes to a point where it needs to be stitched up again.. that's my excuse to buy something new! to replace it.
my home economics teacher at school in my village was pretty much the devil incarnate and the only person to hate me in that place. it was because she was sour-faced free church anti-english scum. hell, she'd probably never been off the island before. anyway, she is probably a part of my strong anti-sewing beliefs.
