i mean, it's not like the graphic material MAKES the game or anything...but it certainly does make it better.
it'd be like RE4 without the gore. still a great game, but not "fucking sweet". just sweet.
at any rate, i'm just so happy they decided to make this for the PS2 instead of a next gen. i don't want to spring for a next gen system. at all. but i did want this game...and now i have it, so that's great.

It went a bit further than removing the gore (in fact, I'm sure most of it was still there).
You know the part where you find a (spartan?) soldier in a cage who is like really happy to see you because you are there to free him? You then have to push him through a corridor while getting attacked during which time it dawns on him that you intend into push him into a fire to sacrifice him instead of freeing him.
Well, in the censored version that's a skeleton. That doesn't even make sense :mad:
There is also a God of War coming to the PSP. It will take place inbetween II and the eventual III.(y)

i saw this on kotaku and i must admit, although not being the sort of game i normally go for, it looks pretty awesome. or fucking sweet, as you say, bob. what a shame i don't have any other gaming machinery apart from nintendo schtuffs. maybe i'll win a ps2 in a raffle or something.

It is a bit of a blokey game but, it's one of those titles that makes you feel so good when you're playing it.

The thing I like about the God of War series is that its not like an incredibly tough game, but still manages to be a lot of fun. Of course a challenge is good and all that stuff, but I like how it is all laid out now.
Plus the sexings with the Athenian broads is a bonus...although I had to get sloppy seconds in this new one since my wife called dibs on them.

After you launch yourself from the cross bow and lay a beating down on the statue, you fall through the floor and land in some water.
Then bash some partitions down and you see the ladies in a pool.
The best is when you don't finish the mini game and the girl says "I'm not done yet" and Kratos says "That is not my concern." Wham, Bam Thank You Slut.

haha yeah, i accidentally saw it coming. when you first meet the boss that's related to the guy you're talking about when he says "DO YOU RECOGNIZE ME", and i went haha, no way, you're the *guy you're talking about*, good for you, glad to see you've toughened up a bit, but then he turned out to be the guy that he actually is and i got sad. but then they guy you're talking about showed up, and i was happy again!

Why is gametalk so fucking confusing when you haven't played the game yourself? My friends can really bug me out with their world of warcraft talk.

My cousin told me that if you beat it in RIDICULOUSLY DIFFICULT mode you unlock kratos in a suit and tie waving around briefcases instead of blades :D

i played through on easy mode the first time, just so i could get through the game without any headaches, and just enjoy the experience. after i beat it, i tried playing through on god mode (you remember god mode from the first god of war, i'm sure), and it's really merciless. i couldn't even get past the second "fight" with the colossus. his hits take away like a quarter of your health.
and that's not even the highest difficulty!

(this will only affect combat)" which is two slaps in the face. First of all: Easy mode?? HOW DARE YOU! :mad:
Second of all... it's often the platform sections that kill me a zillion times in a row and setting it to easy would do nothing to make it... well... easier!

If you'd played it you'd remember how hard some of the boss battles were. In fact capcom made a remix version that had an easy option added to it and more save points

actually, the american (and maybe european? i'm not sure) version of DMC3 was legitimately harder than the japanese version; normal difficulty on the US version was the equivalent of hard difficulty on the japanese version...presumably the "easy" mode they added in later was equivalent to the japanese normal mode.
i beat it on normal though, but it was a bitch, you're right
it got a lot easier once you started to level up the "styles"...i picked trickster, that shit gets pretty cool at level 3 (i think), you get to teleport around and shit. it'll be like, you're about to get smacked by a boss, then all of a sudden you teleport out of they way at the last second and reappear above his head.
DMC3 kicked my ass. It's one of the few rentals I haven't beaten in one 5 day period.
Also, GOWII pwns.

Haha, the statue's stream gets stronger when Kratos grunts.
i'm trying to play through on god mode now, in order to unlock the extra costumes...it's a tough time. it's causing me to hate medusas, moreso than usual.
the bosses become simultaneously a lot harder and a little more fun. every boss has a certain technique to them that allows you to fight them without taking too much damage...on lower difficulties, the game's more forgiving, so you can stand there and take damage as you fight back, but on god mode, you really can't take any hits, so you're sort of forced to learn the technique. it's really hard, but it's so much more satisfying when you finally kill them...the gruesome finishing animations make it much better. killing theseus (the guy with the horse key) was great, because he's very very hard when his attacks actually do damage. slamming his head in the door and shit.
euryale (fat medusa) was a REAL pain, because her final stage of attacks are pretty ruthless, and it takes a while to get to them, so you're not really sure how to react to them...i managed to get her though. it felt pretty damn good to rip her head off.

blarghhh, those fuckin medusas. I hated them during the first game and here they are again. Especially when they gang up on you. It's part of the game though so I guess I love them. I love everything about the game.
once you get the golden fleece, you can hit block and reflect the beam back, but you have to be quick. you have like a 10th of a second after you reflect the beam to hit a button (it flashes on the screen, like a minigame). if you do it right, you freeze everything on the screen, but if you do it wrong, you get frozen.
my general favorite way to beat them is to knock them up in the air and juggle them, but it gets tricky when there's more than one. it's hard to knock an enemy into the air without accidentally jumping up yourself, and if a gorgon freezes you in the air, that's it, you're dead and you have no hope of not dying. they don't even have to start freezing you before you jump, they can get you with no warning. i hate those things
but right now i'm stuck on something else...it's a series of minor enemies, after you cross the lowlands (which involves swinging across a series of crumbling swing points)...first you have to fight a few sirens and minotaurs (the ones with the flaming hammers, i fucking hate them). then after they've almost killed you, you go to the next room and there's a health chest, only it's actually a "fuck you" chest because once you walk up to it, you have to fight 2 satyrs and a few of those gladiator guys (the ones whose heads you can cut off).
i hate satyrs, anyone have any tips for beating them? i tried the medusa head, which is generally good against strong enemies, but it takes literally a full magic bar to freeze one, so that's not gonna work.

Are the satyrs the ones with a staff that they sit on while they contemplate how to kill you in the most satisfying way?
I hated those in the first and I hate those here.
There is no way of not taking any damage while fighting them :(
i got past that room, but now i'm stuck in this other horrible place
it's in the temple of the fates, i have to fight these cerberi...the ones that spit fire and spit out smaller dogs, which turn into big dogs if you leave them alone for too long only they don't....stop coming, they don't stop coming and also, if you kill the big dogs, big dogs just pop up to replace them and it never ends oh and also lol they throw gladiators at you at the same time, i hate god mode
i'm not even going to try titan mode
