Thanks! A damn long thread again, though... And gets off the topic in the end. I'll run for US Prez, too!

A breath of fresh air? He's an afro-muslim, why not!(y)
You know, even I would like a change; Dick Cheney is not my man to rule our one and only true friend country.

I don't like the idea of 'exploratory comitees', kinda seems like a sneaky way of pre-campaigning, or could be used in such a way.

He's not a Muslim.

Wow, that's even better.

I don't watch Fox News, hello, we don't have 'Faux' here.

He's not entirely African-American, either.

What the hell does it matter.

The dude's got charisma out the ying-yang, speaks more eloquently than most, and is a serious Democratic contender for the Presidency.

But, let's talk about ridiculous minutiae that doesn't mean crap about him : like whether he went to a madrassa as a youth (he didn't) or his ethnicity...since that's all that REALLY matters:rolleyes:

or his ethnicity...since that's all that REALLY matters:rolleyes:

Unfortunately for many that is all that will matter.

Same with Hillary.

it's the 'just because' factor

Only fools, idiots, and those who can't see beyond the end of their own noses will judge Hillary by her femininity or Obama by his skin color.

Oh, wait, what about Biden? : http://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003539908

'Clean' has various meanings;) Nasty, for a democrat! Isn't it like: "I'm pro African-Americans, but I live here in the suburbs, far away from these people, and let it stay that way" ?

I know you're trying to help, mang, but please don't agree with me TOO much. The others will think we're on the same side all the time, and I often find you're too-quick responses not well-thought out nor conducive to a coherent exchange of ideas.

Like Schmeltz said, he needs a refund from his English teacher. :p

Or just a bit more time of thoughtful contemplation prior to posting, more likely.

I'm excited he's running, but still think he would be a better VP. Though if he gets the bid, I'll whole-heartedly support him.

It's far too early to say who'd be a good VP-candidate, but Obama is (so far) my #1. Hillary, I'm probably #2 with.

I'll give Kucinich a #3 (even though he's closer ideologically to me than Hillary) just because I really appreciate his efforts despite being a super-long shot.

I don't think so. I think Obama shows great promise and could do great things, but he may be better off as VP and build up more credibility and then go for the Presidency in '16. When I look at the primaries, I look at both who I'd like for Pres and VP, VPs in my mind are people who just need more cultivation before they're let loose on the political scene, but are also strong and bring a good balance. He'd be an excellent VP. Still unsure of whether or not he could pull the Presidency...I'm still feeling that one out. I'm making my final decision on who to support for Presidency by next year.

And I'm still hoping Gore will change his mind. :p

I don't think Obama can win, not because of ability though. You know what I'm talking about.

Listening to a bloviating colleague at his first meeting of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Obama slipped a three-word note to a member of his staff: "Shoot. Me. Now." (http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/story/13390609/campaign_08_the_radical_roots_of_barack_obama)

:D Fuckin' awesome. At this point, he's got my support. We'll see who else emerges in the next year.

Obama was on 60 Minutes tonight. Dude fuckin' rocked it! I think this guy can take on anything. He already pwned John Howard today and he was very impressive on 60 Mins tonight.

I'm feelin' excited, and I'm backin' him 100%!

Yeah, John Howard really is a dick. He had no place saying what he said.

here (http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,21213562-1702,00.html)

The australian election is less than a year away, and Kevin Rudd (the opposition leader) has the highest approval rating of any opp leader in 35 years.

here (http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,21213043-5007133,00.html)

I will not vote for John Howard for 3 reasons, the introduction of the workchoices laws which erode workers rights to practically nothing, the fact they they allow david hicks to be kept at Guantanamo, and their poor stance on climate change (they called called an inconvenient truth 'mere entertainment' and said no one from the government would go and see it).

Fuckers.

DroppinScience

So will John Howard lose the election? If anything, he should be punished for his out of line criticism of a foreign CANDIDATE more than a year before the first primary.

Seriously, what was he thinking saying that when he's becoming this unpopular?

What's Obama's take on Israel?

I can't seem to find anything more concrete than this (http://mondoweiss.observer.com/2006/12/barack-obama-disappoints-re-israelpalestine.html).

Seems he's trying to keep everybody happy by being vague about stuff that might lose him votes.

Just another politician, IMHO.
