Kind of like Chaplin vs. Keaton, in a way.

:(
I'm totally a Wolf fan. Muddy did some great stuff, but Wolf was just... the dude just sounds so huge. And I love Sumlin's guitar playing. Kills me.

They're both legendary but Muddy is just... the man.

"My memory is Muddy what's this river that I'm in?
New Orleans is sinking and man I don't want to swim
Ain't got no picture postcards ain't go no souvenirs
My baby she don't know me when I'm thinking about those years
I have my hands in that river
My feet back up on the banks
Looked up to the Lord above and said hey man thanks"
i've got both of their chess box sets, and loads of waters albums. for me, it's muddy, hands down. the wolf is a legend, however after a while, his voice tends to get on my nerves.

Wolf's boxed set is good, but you should snag the Moaning at Midnight/Howling Wolf (rocking chair) twofer on chess (http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:8fzsa9ygb230). Budget priced and stone classic.
Smokestack Lighting, Shake for Me, Back Door Man, Spoonful, How Many More Years, Forty-four Blues, Little Red Rooster... (y)
