Well, maybe changed my mind about is perhaps a little strong but I'm currently liking Bloc Party. I was totally underawed by Silent Alarm and found them quite annoying but I love 'The Prayer' and 'On' which are the 2 tracks I have heard from the new album. I'm looking forward to hearing it.

I saw them open for the Pixies and that peaked my interest alot more than "Silent Alarm" did......great live show.....but "The Prayer" as a 1st single from the new record does nada for me.....

Well, until I was about 12, I thought Billy Joel's music was really good.

Why did Billy Joel say "we didn't start the fire"???

I was so very big on John Cougar/Mellencamp at that age.....

No idea. I was off his stuff by then.

A lot of his lyrics are pretty insipid.

I'm absolutely with you. They did nothing for me until I heard the new stuff. I'll get each album with 71% certainty.

I don't know that song.

I think The Bridge was the last of his stuff I ever heard.

Oh, man. Uh Huh is one you should've kept "Tumblin' Down" alone makes that one worthwhile.

Big Daddy has some really good stuff on it, too.

Trivial side note: I refinished a church (featured in Brokeback Mountain) on a ranchers land and the guy owns 3 large oil canvases by Mellencamp....not bad, but not great.....they were all gifts for a choice cutting horse....

I've seen some of his paintings. They were after he'd been painting for a few years, and they were surprisingly good. Sort of a cross between Vermeer and Edward Hopper.

I met him at a mall in Bloomington once, about a week or two after meeting his wife at the McDonald's drive through.

lilly allen and nelly furtado

in nelly's case, i think its because she is making different music than she did before.

Paul Simon's solo stuff used to drive me nuts back in the 80's. When I listened to it later with more "mature ears" I found it fantastic.

I think I disliked it because my parents played Graceland approximately 34 times on a trip to California in a Ford Aerostar.

My old roommate was obsessed with Graceland. I will never be able to listen to it again, for as long as I live.
