Has one of you ever kept his eyes on gfx-card, mp3 player, phone or whatever 'til it's price dropped after a year on the market?
Or do you buy only the newest stuff?
Old stuff tends to vanish from memory. And graphics quality or storage space seem tiny nowadays?
Supposedly the N-Gage sales are booming...

Nope. I usually buy "old" gadget by accident.

I'm pretty big on last-year's-big-thing, especially software. It's so much cheaper than the latest release...

I wouldn't go out an buy, say, a laserdisc player or anything, but it's cool to get second or third generation models because they're cheaper and usually the bugs are worked out.

I rarely if ever buy new gadgets. I bought my N64 in 2002! $50!

I usually wait until there's a second generation so I know most of the kinks have been worked out. However, when DVD players first started appearing, I bought an Oritron for $99 (cheapest on the market) because the Beastie Boys' Anthology DVD was coming out and I really wanted to see it. But that's the only case where I've bought new technology as opposed to waiting to get a decrease in value and increase in quality.

There should be an info site on this shit. Oh wait, I think it's all in those "X % savings" e-mails from amazon. Buck for a zip-drive? I don't think so. But there must be sweet deals on phones, mp3 players and even PMPs by now...

my ipod is from ebay and it's 3rd or 4th generation from 2005. it works just fine so far. it froze once, but I reset it. it was a gift, but it was around $300 new and I'm quite sure my mom didn't pay more than a hundy for it.

I got a portable CD player new when they were hot. it was like $75 and soooo shitty, no ESP at all. I loved that thing though, and drove carefully. even taped it shut when the clasp broke. I still have it, I should see if it works. it looks ancient.

I did that with the PS1 and PS2. Bogh them the Christmas after they were released.

ANd I rarely buy games for PS2 unless they're under $30.
