They've gone a little bit crazy about this Aqua Teen Hunger Force lite-brite display thing. You'd think maybe common sense would kick in and they would perhaps call it a day....yet they persist on making total asses out themselves over a mistake.

These guys (http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/ABPub/zoom/html/2003551613.html) must be punished, they are obviously terrorists. The same displays were found down the block from my house, the utility worker who found it had no other thought in his head than the fact that it's junk some kid made and tossed it.

The Boston police want International Media attention over the fact they thought this (http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/ABPub/2007/02/01/2003550204.jpg) was a bomb.

I thought it was funny how Chicago police had to have a press conference about the removal of the ones in their city. And they already knew what they were.

I think it's funny that this explosion of hysteria has probably netted Turner a hundred times more publicity than a bunch of stupid little Lite-Brite signs ever would have to begin with. Everyone in the country has probably heard of ATHF by now.

I thought I'd read something on here the other day about this, but wasn't too sure. Fuck that must of just sucked being stuck in the Boston Lite-Brite traffic jam of 2007.

It must get pretty crazy around town when the christmas lite displays go up.

Like I said, this is the best news story ever.

A bunch of Boston cops mistake lite-brights for bombs. It involves the Mooninites. I got to hear Bill O'Reilly say "Mooninite". My life is complete.

I absolutely love it.

i agree, this really is the most hilarious story i've heard in a while. it's such a ridiculous over-reaction by state officials.

i absolutely LOVE how everyone reacted to the arraignment of the two guys that got arrested, including the two guys themselves. they just laughed through the whole thing. i read some quote on some website, apparently the prosecutor said something like "it's clear that turner's intention was to cause panic to get publicity" and you could hear the gallery trying not to laugh.

what a joke

i saw one of the devices on the way home that night, but i didn't call the bomb squad. i hadn't been reading the news at that point, so i didn't know what the deal was. if i'd known, i'd have tried to take it. that would bring a fortune on ebay.

They are known for making the obscene hand gesture depicted on the devices.

These cartoon characters should be punished. Capital punishment through rubbing them out.

The plot thickens with the news that the arrested actually was filming the bomb squad removing his device.

One of the men criminally charged after placing blinking cartoon advertisements around the city and causing a terrorism scare videotaped a police bomb squad removing one of the devices, but did not tell the officers the object was harmless.

Read on. (http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/02/06/suspicious.device.ap/)

from the same;

"That's what he does. He videotapes things. He's a videotape freelance artist," Prince [his lawyer] said. "When he got there, he realized what was going on, and he went back to his apartment and called his employer, and they told him they would take care of it. That's not an inappropriate response."

remember, we're talking about a guy who looks like this (http://i.a.cnn.net/cnn/2007/US/02/06/suspicious.device.ap/story.berdovsky.steven.whdh.jpg) (on the right, with the dreads). if this guy came running up to a bomb squad (could you get that close?) yelling "hey, hey, whoa, it's harmless, i put it there, it's cool", would it really have much effect? he'd probably get tackled and arrested before he could say much else.

besides, they knew by the middle of the day what these things were, and there were still bomb squads responding by 8 PM (i'd know, my bus home got stuck in traffic because of one), so i don't think it would have mattered.
