The single of Let's Dance is a lot better than the drawn out album version.

The radio edit of Pharoahe Monch's "Fuck You" is particularly balls. It's even got a different name ("Got You").

ANY radio edit of a Public Enemy song.....
They don't censor songs on the radio here.

I should have been more specific.
Radio edits are not limited to just censorship. In the case of "Controversy" by Prince (which I failed to include earlier)...the album version is a long 7 minutes which gets boring and annoying by minute three, whereas the radio version is one of his finest tracks ever.

I remember when the local radio stations would edit in something for the local market. Like Janet Jackson would yell "Minneapolis!" in the radio version, but not in the CD version. I think Huey Lewis yelled "Minneapolis" in the Heart of Rock and Roll, and it was so clearly added on later that it was hilarious.

I always assumed that Janet Jackson yelled that cuz Jimmy Jam was producing most of her stuff at the time. Seems extra corny if it was just dubbed in for around hurr.

I'm trying to remember what song it is, but I'm sure it's not on the CD. My best friend was a big Janet Jackson fan and she was upset that she couldn't own the radio version.

Ah, I'm totally wrong. It's on the CD version of Escapade. :o It just sounds edited in.
But I'm sure I'm right about Huey. :p

I usually like the shorter radio version of pop songs. But the short version of Diana Ross's Ain't No Mountain High Enough is edited so abruptly that it bothers me whenever I hear it. It cuts off in the middle of the bridge.
A guy I worked with used to listen to the classic rock station in his cubicle. When that long Peter Frampton song would start, he would sit on the edge of his chair with baited breath until he found out which version they were playing.

I strongly strongly strongly prefer the single edit of Stevie Wonder's "Living for the City." The album has this point where it breaks down and goes into a sort of urban street crowd yelling soundtrack thingy for a while and it just kills the song.
What about saying about Beastie radio edits, huh?
I really love the scratching extended version of Shake Your Rump, cuz this little intermission gives hella lot to the flow of the song.
The extra shouting in "So what'cha want" is great too.
The video/radio version of "Hey Ladies" with lots of samples missing is bad. Anyway, this is a cheesy song and the video is even worse than Netty's Girl one, hehe.
Oh and I forgot, Fatboy Slim remix of "Body Movin'" sucks so much, that I don't even want to comment it. Well, I've done it once pals

I downloaded the shorter version from itunes because of you. Thanks for the tip. I've always hated the talking part.

I like Akon's "I Wanna Love You" way better on the radio. When I heard "I Wanna Fuck You" on the album version I was kinda taken aback.
Same with "Can I Get A" The first time "what what" was changed to "fuck you" I was surprised and didn't like it as much.

I prefer the clean version of "Ch-Check it out", mainly for this:
"All you Klingons in your Grandma's house, grab your backstreet friend and get loud"
sounds better than
"All you Klingons in the fucking house.."
