Soul Food....all the wonders of modern technology, trade and emmigration have failed to produce a soul food restaurant in my location......there's a little west indie restaraunt that does greens and mash but everything else is jerked......what's a real soul food meal like,I say?.....I went to a "cat fish fry" in Florida when I was very young....my Sis assures me that was pretty much the real deal,I only recall the fish as being amazing........????

I'z born and raised in Wisconsin and have lived in LA for 8 years now. I'm removed from my beloved Leinenkugel's beer, Cheese Curds, and Friday Night Fish Fry's. :( I'm sure my ass is smaller because of it though. But still.

You know though, if I was ever forced to leave Los Angeles, I'd really be missing great Mexican food and Sushi. God it's good here.

I'm curious what do you use cheese curds for besides poutine?

I haven't thought about it in ages, but I don't think we have tenderloins around here. I think that's a midwestern thing.

LA doesnt have any good english joints, we have everything except good fish n' chips joints...actually anything from the UK or Europe really.....
Actually that's true of my neighborhood as well.....2 specialty hot dog joints within 5 blocks of me and no chipper,go figure....???....and what I would give for a take away curry joint,London style.....now I have a wicked craving for halibut and chips, plenty of vinegar and a pint.....
