i found the book at my local public library, and i recommend it to all Beastie Boys fan

I gave it a favorable review too:
"Raising Hell : The Reign, Ruin, and Redemption of Run-D.M.C. and Jam Master Jay contains a surprisingly large amount of content and history relating to the Beastie Boys (1985-1987). Although Russell Simmons' book Life and Def attempted to tell the early history of Def Jam records/Rush Management; this book eclipses it and proceeds to be as much about Russell Simmons and Def Jam as it is about Joseph Simmons and Run DMC. Interview quotes from Adam Horovitz, and Beastie Boys' DJs: Doctor Dre and Hurricane give the reader insight into the true nature of the relationship that exists between Run DMC and the Beastie Boys. Even if you are not a fan of RUN DMC, the book is worth purchasing for it is a historical account of the Rap/Hip Hop through the 1980s."

Adrock produced a track on Crown Royal? Whats the story with that?

As I remember, Run actually had a comment in the press about how he was pissed Adrock declined to be on the album, or something along those lines. Can anyone clear it up?

Here is some info from the beastiemania.com timeline:http://www.beastiemania.com/timeline/show.php?year=1999

August 1999:
A few weeks later Run calls the Beastie Boys and asks them to come over to Jam Master Jay’s studio and properly record and finalize the stuff that would be included on “Crown Royal.” Only Adam Horovitz is available, so he proceeds to bring along some material he has been working on. Out of these beats, samples, and instrumentals, Run D.M.C later selected one of the instrumentals to be used by Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst who rapped on the song “T’em Girls.” (Information source: Ronin Ro’s amazing book Raising Hell: The Reign, Ruin and Redemption of Run-D.M.C. and Jam Master Jay.)

I'd be interested to hear that. If you're willing to share it with us perhaps the good folks at mic to mic or beastiemixes.com would host that mp3.

In the book its called T'em girls = I would LOVE to hear it ZAP if you find it ...

the way the book reads adrock respectfully asked that his name be taken off the song credits cause he didnt want to be mixed up w/ fred durst - initially he figured the beat would be used by run dmc ....

god bless adrock ...

i always thought that lyric "created a monster with these ryhmes i write / goatee metal rap please say goodnight" = was about limp biskit type acts ...

Adrock's the man. And for anyone who wants to listen to the song (which has a good beat that Fred Durst completely ruins) its right here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=l_58vdWLKs4

that beat is allright, but the rapping is extremely corny. probably would have been better if AdRock was around to actually produce it.

that whole record kinda sucked (n)

didnt really matter who was on the mic, backwards caps or otherwise.

as far as adam's beat. it's good, but if it was real hot he wouldnt have wasted on a horrible Run-DMC record, ya dig?

I still want the beasties to do a full album with Run and DMC..

Kind of off the topic, but this post reminded me of something that was offered to me in a trade that fell through a few years back. It was 50 minutes to an hour of the Beastie Boys in a recording studio listening to albums and chatting with Run D.M.C. (I imagine it to be similar to what we get with the "Little Radio" shows). I am unsure as to if this session was recorded back in the 80s or in the 90s.

Anybody out there have a copy of this...or also hear of its existence?
