They just added Jeff Bridges to the cast. (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/film/news/e3i7599d40faf20e342f2c7bbb6b364221b)
Robert Downey, Jr. as Tony Stark; Gwenneth Paltrow and Terrence Howard are in it, too.
I had zero interest in this until Downey Jr. was cast, and now every bit of news that trickles out makes this more and more intriguing.

Iron Man is not interesting sober, so I'm glad they picked Downey!

I don't know the comic book much at all. But I'm liking the cast.
Hell, Downey + Bridges is probably good enough for me.

very funny....apparently,Stan Lee will not rest until every book he published is transcribed to film (he loves the cameo action)....I think Downey's physical stature is unsuitable.....I'm also thinking "The Flash" will be the next Marvel incarnation to show up......

That lasted about four issues, I think.
An Ant Man movie could be pretty spectacular looking.

I'd like to see more DC flicks....Green Lantern could work.....if I could write a screenplay I'd attempt Sgt Rock,GI Combat or the Unknown Soldier..........Swarzeneger was gonna play Rock at one time but the producers backed off after "Saving Private Ryan" set a new precedent for "realistic" portrayals of war,all the backers supposedly bailed......or a crossover movie like "Spiderman Vs Superman"....did anyone else have that giant sized comic?....man I wish I could have held on to that.....

Jesus Christo! Excellent recollection! I had the Batman/Spiderman as well.....they re-issued them in 6 5/8 x 10 1/4 a few years back but it just wasn't the same....I just finished Allan Moores "Saga of the Swamp Thing" (y)....that could work as well....I can't remember how the first movie version was,but I know I saw it way back when.....I must try and find that flick for rental review......

He was attached to the latest Superman as well, when Tim Burton was gonna direct it,but they had such dramatically different visions they both bailed....Burton invisioned Superman as being translucent and using weapons....for real.....Smith did a fine job on Green Arrow though, but some nice edge to it.....(y)

An ultra-violent,sexed up Arrow and I think he's done a few issues of Daredevil as well (6 degrees of ben affleck)....;)
I've read most everything he's done for comics. Well, that's not true - but the local library here has a solid collection. I actually liked Promethea to an extent, but that might've just been because I read all 9 in a row for free.

It's like a compendium thing that has a bunch of stories he's written for individual heroes. I think there's one in there for Swamp thing with Superman, a couple Green Lantern Corps stories...some other random ones.
The executive producer should be Ghostface.

I've read all of these and still claim that SUPREME is the best thing next to Watchmen he did.
BTW The Black Goliath is dead (Marvel Style).
SNAP I totally forgot Supreme. I read both of those. The only thing that annoyed me about that series is that it started out almost as parody, but ended up just sort of being a long surreal exploration of the Superman mythos - he didn't really come up with new concepts per se, just sort of co-oped ideas from decades of DC comics.
Overall, I thought Supreme was mostly interesting just to see how a legacy as concrete as Superman's seems could be totally different, and sound just as real.

I loved when that series introduced the Continuíty, a universe full of alternate universe versions of the characters (the Blaxxploitation Duck Darius Dax). I cried tears of joy when I saw the Pip the troll cameo. 1963 was also very funny and the whole TWO issues of Moore's Youngblood.

Frank Miller

(y) Ennis - Preacher = awesome, for Arseface alone...
Ellis did some great stuff(Transmet, Planetary) but a lot of his stuff is too similar and in the same vein, like City of Silence. I check his website every day, though, cause its pretty nice.
Haven't read much by Miller. His current Batman is (n)
Kirkmans Invincible and Walking Dead are pretty good.
I'd like to recommend the Hernandez Bros (Love & Rockets), John Ostrander (Suicide Squad, Spectre), Grant Morrison (Invisibles, 7 Soldiers), James Robinson (Starman) and Dave Sim(Cerebus).

I tried out the Hernandez bros, but they seem too much like a serialized newspaper soap comic...I got bored. I like the band "Love and Rockets" a little.
Morrison's "Invisibles" was great, and if you liked that you'd love his "Doom Patrol" series too. Invisibles was basically The Matrix before "The Matrix" existed as far as I'm concerned.

Miller is really hit or miss by me. I actually didn't care all that much for the Sin City comics. The writing was good, but it was all so dull without the more rich visuals that the movie had. The comics were so stark and had too little to keep me interested.
The only Batman I read from him was "The Return of the Dark Knight." Kind of like Rocky, I've heard his other Batman stuff is okay, but if you only read the first one it's a lot better.

Actually, he has been around for a long time. He went to just being "Goliath" recently and just got killed a couple issues ago during a battle with a Thor clone.

I had no idea. Where did he pop up after his solo comic died?
Also: does anyone else remember Ragman? I think that was his name. DC comics. Dude ran ... not exactly a pawn shop, but I forget what they're called. I remember in the first issue, he took pity on some kid and gave him $10 for a baseball.

Almost nowhere cause he kinda sucked, he wasn't even in Avengers Forever. Even Tony Isabella who invented him said he was faulty, but then again this was the 70s and black title characters weren't exactly commonplace.

I have that book. His dad ran a junkyard / pawnshop before he gets murdered. Money in mattress burns -> Donny Darko metaphor... Rory dons costume. I always liked the character he's in Shadowpact now, a book which is slightly of the mark unfortunately. The writer Bill Willingham is good, he also does Fables, but some of his characters are too generic.

There was a 70s run which I'm trying to complete, its just decent, but 70s DC is my fave comics era to collect . Also another run in the late 80s by Keith Giffen. Typical 9 panel Giffen pages tying the mystical suit to the Golem of Prague...

I seriously think L&R is the best thing in comics atm. There is actually a continuity behind it but that stuff is often thrown overboard or stuff is happening in flashbacks without any explanations. This is done consciously and I like cause its a bit more demanding. Anyway I love the weird ideas in some of these comics and the drawing style ("golden age" cars, humour mag faces etc.)
You read any independents regularly?
