i think i'm probably one of the few women on the planet who does not want flowers on valentine's day. it pisses me off that they charge 80% more for flowers (roses moreso than others) that one day of the year. fuck you, florists!

all i want is a lovely card, and a long make-out session. by candle light.

whatchu want?

from my mum

oh, that reminds me. i've also specifically forbidden bobby from buying any of those heart shaped boxes full of the various chocolates (like whitman's sampler, for example), because there'll be 20 pieces that suck, and 3 are good, but you don't know which is which until you bite into them.

We don't really celebrate that day here, because we are unloving people.

randy, you should have said! one of us woulda sent you something! back in the dark ages brodie and i swapped friendly valentines postal greets just for the craic. it was fun.

my boyfriend normally makes a big deal out of any annual expressions of love because he's a big dork and you have to understand he only sees me about twice a month, if that. i have every champagne bottle he has ever given me on my shelf, aging and smelling of hangover. hah! so he will probably expand to that collection of different varieties this year.

he is taking me to cafe mao (www.cafemao.com/glasgow.html) for dinner at the weekend. i have work at la bibliotheque before though, so i will probably be shattered and fall asleep in my chilli squid. then we will come home and i will beat him at mario kart. on sunday i think we're going to take a trip outside glasgow, probably to helensburgh or something, to eat chips on the pier (seriously) and then go to a pub quiz! i wanted to go to the trident base at faslane and perhaps see a protesting tommy sheridan and george galloway and a nuclear submarine or two but he doesn't think this is romantic, ha!

only some of these events are explicitly tied to it being an unofficial 'valentines weekend', hah.

i <3 you all.

Mr.p and I usually go out for a really nice hot curry, but I guess probably not this year. I suppose we could try to find a babysitter, but I don't know that I care to. Valentine's Day isn't generally that big a deal to me; I don't go in for the flowers and all either. Just big expensive piece of jewelery will be fine, really.

Seeing as Valentine's Day is on a crappy day like a Wednesday my hubby and I have a nice saturday planned.

He has paid for me to have a pampering morning at a spa (so looking forward to this as I am seriously stressed out at work at the moment) and then we are sending Ava off to my parents while we go out for dinner and go to the cinema.

I have bought hubby an xbox 360 game too. I'm such an old romantic... :D

i want SOMEONE to remember i exist. i almost dont care who, as long as someone tells me "happy valentines day" and maybe gives me a hug. and if they're cute and kissable, maybe a nice smooch.

if it's the someone im crushing on, hopefully he'll more than smooch me. but i highly doubt that will happen.

oh wellz. im the person that buys a pack of those vday cards and a whole shitload of individually wrapped chocolate and i give out chocolove to all my homies. <3

I said to the b/f last night, "we're not doing anything for Valentine's Day, are we?" he said, "uhh, yeah!"

He forgot to go grocery shopping after I gave him a long list of items to buy, so I'm not getting my hopes up.

I fold up $100 bills to look like roses, and give a bouquet of three dozen of those.
I actually put an extra duct tape petal on each duct tape rose of the dozen i gave my woman for our "anniversary" years ago for our "we officially are a couple anniversary". Which will now change to our actual wedding anniversary this April. Did that even make sense?

Fuck a valentine's day. I tried the whole dinner and gift thing the first year...and we realized it was ridiculous...since we always go out for dinner and always buy each other random gifts at random times.

I was going to buy her one of those Chocolate phones this year since you are supposed to buy chocolate or some shit and its our first valentines day as a married couple, and then I realized the radio, television and the yentas at work got me thinking of participating. So instead I bought her some gaming nerd t-shirts that I gave her 2 or 3 weeks ago. And they say romance dead...pfffttt.

I loathe valentine's day. Not because it's a load of commercial nonsense, but because for me it's always been a day of depression. The whole world seems to be filled with love and happy couples and I'm eating crisps on my own in my bedroom. :(

I also never had a prezzie, but this year I would like it if a certain person would just let me know he cares. And it would be even better if it wasn't in the 'just friends' way. Meh, I hate being ''just friends'.

That's what you get for being 'one of the guys'. I've hung out with them so much they no longer see me as a girl but as a sort of dude with boobs.

In Finland they made it into "Friend's day" cause we ain't into that lovey-dovey stuff, but they wanted to milk it anyway. Here in Sweden they've been trying to forcefeed it into our throats, with loads of cards and heartshaped jewelry and bloody expensive roses (I've worked at florists and it was ridiculous, but it was the wholesellers who put the prices up for that day).

I've only once gotten a sort-of Valentine's card, but that didn't really count. I've received a few roses, but that's only cause my birthday's close by.

On Valentine's five years ago I saw Black Rebel Motorcycle Club for the first time and been in love with them ever since...

I also used to feel all sorry for myself on Valentine's Day - until I discovered its true magic: guaranteed no-questions-asked meaningless sex with anyone else unattached (preferably a recently dumped cutie on the rebound), without the hassle of gifts and chocolate and shit. Here's to the lonely hearts club!

ok, so it seemed to be frustrating bobby that there was nothing i wanted for valentine's day. so, i thought very hard about it and came up with the following to help him out. i do not need any of it, and i stand by my original post, but if you want to purchase something, here's some stuff:

a coconut cream pie from perkins

tigi joystick lipstick (http://www.bellezzaskincare.com/products/tigi/joystick.php) in cool. feisty looks nice too, but it's hard to tell online.

ralph lauren romance (http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P6463&shouldPaginate=true&categoryId=1164)

and i just got a new camera, so a case (http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_DisplayProductInformation-Start?ProductSKU=LCSWF&Dept=cameras&CategoryName=acc_DIAccessories_DICarryingCases_DCC ases) to put it in would be cool.

Valentine's hasn't even really registered on my radar this year. I keep forgetting it's coming up actually. Hey, I think if people use it for a good reason like reminding their loved ones that they care about them, why not.

I don't even know what will be happening. My parents are gone so I'm hoping to get friends over for a dinner party and Guitar Hero.

It's so close to our wedding anniversary, and if we do Valentines day we'll have run out of pleasant things to say by the anniversary.
It's also very close ot the anniversay of 'being together', which is half of my freakin' life this year, so I'm feeling old and don't want a card to celebrate that.

milky way is probably one of the worst chocolate bars ever. nougat? who the hell thought that up, and figured it'd be good to pretty much make a whole candy bar out of that and barely cover it with chocolate.

reese's are the best. followed closely by take 5 (the one with the red wrapper).
