What are you gals' views on this.
Do you have more male than female friends, and how do you act around them? Do you still act girly or do you just do what they do?
I've always been one of the guys, but it sort of starts to annoy me now. I mean, I love all these guys to bits because they're my friends and they stick up for me, but after all those years they no longer see me as a girl. I'm just sort of a dude with boobs to them. And that sucks ass, specially since I fancy the pants off one of them.
I think I should start wearing skirts and quit the beer and sex jokes. :s

Even with big wobbly legs? :s
Anyhoo, I know about the ladder theory and according to that I am in the friend zone and will never get out of the friend zone.
True or bullshit? Could a girl you've been friends with for ages ever get out of the friend zone?

Most unlikely. It is like an ultra-magnetic Twilight Zone from which there is no escape. You could test the waters by shamelessly flirting with other guys to see if this provokes an reaction from your homies....

Wellllll...
Some time ago I went out with some 'homies' and some dude was dancing really close and tried to kiss me a couple of times without having even spoken to me. And I did see my crush (who then was not my crush. yeah im confused too.) looking at me a couple of times. He said if that dude had done anything wrong to me he would've beaten the crap outta him.
Ofcourse this could also just be friendly protectiveness. It probably is. So I'm screwed.

Naw a chick can slide out of the "friend zone" better than a dude because chicks created the "friend zone".

This was the one and only chance you had to get jiggy with him. He gave you a shot there to fling yourself at him. That opportunity has now passed and the door of the cell in the friend zone locked double shut.

But, but...
2 weeks ago I walked home with him because he had a flat tire and he made me an egg sammich and let me sleep in his room and we read our fave comic together and last week we were dancing together all the time and I licked some beer off him and we puked together and he saved me from some pervy student boys who were asking stuff about my tits and goddamnit I love him. :(

Thing is any male has to exclude a friend-girl from the pool of prospective girlfriends in order to be friends with them. 'Cause everyone has heard the stories of the drunken intercourse with the friend which causes both parties to avoid each other for a looooong time....

My favorite girlfriend of all time ever ever ever was someone I was friends with first for two years.Yeah, we did break up, but we were out together the very next night, hanging out.
It can be okay if you're just cool about it.
I knew this girl that was like one of the guys but with fantastic boobs and a perfect ass. She would burp, check out hot girls with me, make the nastiest jokes, so forth and so on.
After about half a bottle of rum before going to the circus, I straight up told her that I didn't consider her my friend because I didn't want to be put in the friend zone. But the excuse I used to her was that she never called me herself to hang out. So the next day she did.
About 5 years later, we got married.
So basically I'm saying, that having a girl that is like one of the guys but with boobs is the best thing ever for a guy.
Until she feels totally comfortable farting in front of you that is.

I've been friend with my husband before we started going out...
My tip for you is: make him drunk, get drunk yourself and bring him into the "sex-zone" :D
P.S.: Of course that's not how I got my husband! ;)

Pretty much all we do is get drunk together. Hence the puking in unison.
We're going out again tomorrow but I've lost all hope that anything will happen. He fancies skinny blonde girly girls. The exact opposite of me. meh.
He's making me so insecure. I've even thought about not eating for 3 months so I will be skinny enough in the summer and he might share a tent with me at Roskilde. (n)

I never got out of the friend zone. 3 guys, once they were in the friend zone, they never escaped. Granted, it was back in high school, and I later found out that one of them definitely did crush back on me pretty hard and another one did for a while, too. They were just too afraid of messing up the friendship or whatever.
I didn't mind being one of the guys back then. I now have more girlfriends, and I'm the one they go to for advice with guys because I tell them how men think. It's not that hard, but some girls truly are clueless.
Anyways, I still like hanging out with just the guys, but I rarely have the chance to. I feel completely at home with them. I think it's helped to be viewed as a chick and not a guy with boobs once I got a boyfriend who also hung out. I also started wearing makeup every so often and added skirts and fitted jackets to my rotation. I still act myself, but now I have a distinct air of femininity. I think so, at least.

I have always been one to hang with the guys. The few girls that I am really good friends with are the same way. I act however I act around anyone. I say what I want, do what I want, but have always dressed like a girl. Not necessarily skirts, but just feminine, I guess.
I don't know how often you around these guys, but you may try a hiatus, then re-appear a bit more feminine, if that's how you see it. They will miss you and it will give you a chance to set up a barrier a bit. Don't quit the beer, the guys love that part of you. And the sex jokes.

Yeah, I feel that female friends fall into 3 categories:
1. The ones you hang out with because you wanna fuck them.
2. The ones you hang out with because they're fucking one of your buddies.
3. The ones you hang out with because they're friends with the girl you're currently fucking.

Oh I've had many 'hiatussus' from these guys. I usually only saw them every couple of months. But in november I accidentally bumped into them at a gig and since then we've just been going out more. Specially me and my crush, who I didn't see as much as the other guys before the gig.
And the other guys have known me for so long and turning into a massive girly girl would just be weird. I do wear make-up when we go out and my t-shirts are pretty tight (to show off some boobage), but I don't feel comfy in skirts. Skirts show my legs and I don't like my legs. Plus that I can't dance the way I do if I wore a skirt. :p
@ blu:
Hmm, there are no other girls in our 'group'... None of the guys have girlfriends...
So what you're saying is they all want to fuck me?

Yes
All of my guy friends have always said that they won't hang out with a girl unless they want to fuck her. Not sure if that's across the board with all guys, but that's what I hear...

What if said female is a bit on the fugly side? Fugly in make-up is still fugly. Fugly might be friendly, but you wouldn't fuck it. Right?
(And I am ofcourse referring to myself, not QueenAdrock.)

Maybe this attitude of yours is preventing them from whipping it out.

If it does it has to be something I emit subconciously, because I never tell them about this insecurity stuff.
It just makes me feel kinda bad when I see them staring at all these girls and hear all the talk about how they wanna bone so-and-so and all these girls are about half my size.
Yes, I'm an insecure sack of lard. *dramatic pose*

Not true. I have plenty of girl friends that I hang out with and have no intentions of getting with them...............mainly because I already boned them, but that's neither here nor there.

Yeah, that's the unwritten 4th rule on my list. The girl you're currntly or have already fucked.

most of my friends are dudes. my girl friends are like dudes. well, the ones I like best. they're all feminine though. except my one friend who wears overalls all the time and no make up, but she's married.
I will say that I made a shift in how I dress a couple of years ago to a more girly style and I definitely get more attention than I ever have before. I've never dated any of my friends, but I've taken a few drunken rolls in the hay.
truth is, even if I get crushes on one or many of my friends, none of them are really suitable to date. ha ha. I sometimes think I might be in love with one of my friends that cort had a crush on for a long time, but I just stuffed it down for so long that it doesn't matter anymore or something. anytime the love starts to peek out it's head, I focus on the spot where he's going bald...or remember what a grump he can be. I ain't got no room for grumps!
I say you grab his bum and go from there.

Hahaha, it seems like you've never read the post in Beastie Free, it's teeming with guys who bang anything with more than one leg that hasn't climbed a tree at the count of three. :D

yeh, I alwys thought guys only hang out with girls because they wanna get it on with them, I know i fall into this mode......i say 80% of the time, there are occasions where i wud hang out with a girl if we were going to the same gig (and no one else wanted to go) or we shared a common appreciation for urm VW cars.
But mostly i try and spend time with girls i wanna get it on with.;) ....i thought all girls knew this about guys (ladder theory).
and doesnt fugly mean = Fat + Ugly? or am i thinking of something else, i really dunt get the context of it.

i always thought that the friendzone doesnt exist for blokes without a restricting factor. such as already existing relationships. cos if i think you are awesome enough to be considered a friend then you are mostly likely awesome enough to be the receiving end of some heavy petting and all that follows.

I thought fugly = fucking ugly. Which Caribou is not.
anyway, I was always one of the boys for a long time. Still am I just dress like a girl now sometimes. I act the same around both the guys and gals. I have many more guy friends than girl friends but the girl friends I have I'm REALLY close to.
Anyway, I remember sometimes I'd fall for a good guy friend and I'd get rejected off the bat "never thought of Crystal that way" or "she's too good of a friend" or "she's not my type" etc.
So that part sucked but, now I tend to get the opposite happening. I think it just comes with age and/or the fact that I do dress like a girl here and there now. I DESPISED having to wear a skirt or dress or anything of that nature until maybe I was 17 or 18. Even then I felt like an idiot wearing those things. Sometimes I still do, I much rather be in jeans, t-shirts, and some sneaks. Summer doesn't allow for such things though, I sweat too much... though I love summer.
TANGENT! anyway my point is, be yourself. I think part of it may be the insecurity. Don't be, you are definitely already accepted because you are friends with these guys. You should be exuding self-confidence because you must be awesome, right?
