I will have to disagree with you on this one.

Mike Patton has never gotten a grammy. I don't think anyway. But wolfmother does? What is so amazing or groundbreaking with them? Nothing.

Where's the justice?

I made the mistake of putting my thread in the other music section and calling it..The Grammy Awards instead of the grammy's. It is a possessive award show.

Rick Rubin produced the Chili Peppers and the Dixie Chicks. He was a big winner but was MIA.

what did wolfmother beat tool in? i heard that on the radio but they didn't say what for. i personally cant stand Wolfmother. not so for their music, more the fact that they get so much overrated hype about them. when you hear shit like "the next led zepplin" or "will be the biggest band in the world in a couple of years" i just cant but help to think, wtf are these ppl on? overrated to the max

Wolfmother must be better live than they are on the radio, because they couldn't possibly be much worse.

explain how they are technically bad, besides being unoriginal.

i'm sick to death of people saying they are crap because they copy other bands. sure you may not like them because they copy other bands, but to say they are technically no good is incorrect.

i like wolfmother too but it's so obvious that they are nothing but a watered down led zeppelin immatator. but yeah tool is much much better

Their sound sucks and homeboy's voice gets on my nerves, and yes, they're unoriginal. A band can have all the technical merit in the world and not be any good. Now if you can tell me why they're objectively good, I'll listen. But you can't.

i'd say being succesful, selling lots of records, winning awards, touring the country many many times to large audiences, as well as being technically pretty damn good, and putting on a live show that non-wolfmother fans enjoy, makes them good :)

seriously, music snobs are one of the most annoying breeds of people on this planet.

I'm the furthest thing possible from a music snob, trust me. But I know what I like, and I don't like Wolfmother.

And doing all that shit doesn't make Britney Spears good either.

yes i knew someone would bring up britney spears, which is why i said the stuff about being good technically and putting on a good live show.
britney can't sing live, she has very little vocal range, and she dances like a hefalump. i would say that her music is well produced though.

just because you don't like someone, doesn't mean they are not good, i believe that is my point, and was my original point, before this discussion :)

Well, equally, just because you like a band doesn't mean they're good. Music is inherently subjective, you can't prove that everybody should like the same things you do. I'm not saying you shouldn't like Wolfmother, I'm just saying they suck and I don't like them.

Also I agree with you about Britney Spears, except for the part about the production.

well i don't like lots of their songs. and i don't love them. i didn't even really like them until i heard them live.

i never said anyone should like what i like. i'm saying i can recognise good music, even if i don't like it.
