Even just a little? I'd venture a few of you are very pretentious.

I am, because I got a novelty T-Shirt as a gift, and don't think I'm ever going to wear it. Because it's not very hip.

extremely pretentious.

i wouldn't live anywhere that isn't in the western suburbs and i get pissy if i have to cross the river for some reason.

i also make fun of lowerclass people on the street.

by lowerclass i don't mean poor, i mean classless. poor people can still be very classy.

i tend to not converse with people online who can't spell.

i cant stand ppl who cant work out basic mathematics. it really shits me off. when ever someone says " wow, that's amazing, how can you do that so fast?"
i always think, no i'm not fast, you're just stupid

Hitmonlee, I find it strange that you have a problem with suburbs. And classiness.

Does that imply something about me because I live over the river?

There are lots of people who are thinking about posting in this thread, who are pretentious. I have pretty pretentious taste in comedy, sometimes.

depends, do you live in applecross/attadale? :p
hmm i'd just rather live in a shit place in a "decent" suburb. south of the river is too far from any sort of action for me, and anything too far north is kind of homogenous and bogan, and anything east is derro/bogan.
pretty much all the good stuff is in the western suburbs, and i rarely fear for my life or possessions.

but nobody likes a bogan:p

No. You know, plenty of people think Perth is a shithole on a broad scale. Why would you prefer to think there are 'better' parts, when the whole is more or less viewed with derision in some circles? I mean, why throw stones when your house is straight glass?

ok everyone who doesn't live in perth will find this boring... stop reading!

well i can't drive, so the main thing i wanted was to be close to friends/family/work/public transport. friends/family/work are all in the western suburbs. all the suburbs outside of the western suburbs (excluding mt lawley and a couple of others) to me all seem very unremarkable/far away/full of people i can't relate to.

so i guess that would mean i like where i live because i live here.

also the suburbs have trees, and the roads go north-south and east-west, instead of having to go down 50 different curly roads to get to a cul-de-sac in some suburb.

there are no shopping centres (malls). you actually walk down a street with clothing stores and shops, none of these large centres full of teenage hoes. the range of products available to me in the supermarkets are of a better quality/more to my taste. eg. my mum works in girrawheen, and lots of the products she bought at subi coles, were not available at girrawheen coles, as the market simply wasn't there.

cute little movies theatres as opposed to large multiplexes full of the masses. no sizzlers. people don't say "youse" or "somethink".

things like that mean i live here because i like it.

bit of both :)

Seriously, I do notice shoes, watches, and ties, as well as overall appearance, clean, pressed and such. More so with guys then girls. Do I think I am better than them if they are not dressed as well as me? No. But in a professional setting, a person must look professional. As far as other things go, I was taught well by my parents to judge an indiviuals actions not appearance.
I rely on people being so messed up about how they look, as to have no mind to pay my appearance. Professional situations excluded.

I live in Samford :(

Only Icy knows how much it sucks.
hahaha, well at least you dont live on the south side of town

samford's not that bad. i can imagine it'd suck if you didn't have a licence living out that far since you're past the end of the train lines.

do you actually live in samford or one of those surrounding suburbs? i just think of all those suburbs as samford, all out in woop woop :p

about a quarter of my school lived out that way, so when i used to live near chermside it was such a fucking hike to get to mate's places out there. i live a bit closer to samford now but it's still such a fucking hike :p

and it's bloody hard to find some of the entrances to places out there! at least you've got a big yard

That's pretty justified, though. I wouldn't say you're being pretentious, just sliding us a reminder that you're not dumb. Wait, maybe that is pretentious.

not but what is pretentious is thinking people are stupid because they cant work out 132 squared in their head instantaneously, which is what i do think.

Yeah basically I'd be fine with living here if I had a car/licence. Parties are great cause the neighbours hardly complain cause we are far enough apart.

well i hope you have friends that live closer to the city when you turn 18 otherwise it's a bloody expensive cab fare. last year i went to a mates 21st just in Upper Kedron, and it's was like $30 just to get to the other end of samford road.

and you're right, parties out there are great. it'd be good if we didn't have to see our fucking neighbours

i've been told that i see connections in numbers that others dont. like for example, for number in my phonebook, the last 6 digits are 221 646. most people wouldn't think anything special of that, but when i saw it for the first time the first thing i said was ' oh, both those numbers are factors of 17.

it's like how an artist can draw a great picture naturally and wonders why not everyone can do the same thing. now i cant draw to save my life, instead i have huge times tables poster in my head

he means that both of those numbers are divisible by 17.

on a smaller scale, take 12. its factors are 1,2,3,4,6,12

oh, and no, I'm not pretentious. pretense implies false, and I'm all true baby.

except when I might accidentally find myself at a hardcore kid party in the late night with 18 year olds in their underwear and totally 80's haircuts. then I pretend I'm super cool and confident and say to some child in tight pants, "where's the beer?" and then they say "I don't know" and I see some, and say, "I'm taking this". but then I'll invariably see a guy I know who's always at these parties and we'll have a chat. sometimes he wears eyeliner. last time he was wearing a purple headband.

uhh, no. 221 and 646 are divisible by 17. 17 isn't divisible by 221 and 646. I mean, it's possible, but you'd get a decimal.

the first six numbers of my phone number are a palindrome.

I think a lot of folks here are answering the question "Are you a snob?" rather than "Are you pretentious?"

Snobbery is judging other people as below you; pretension is thinking yourself very dignified or important -- and, like Sarky said, probably thinking so falsely.

I'm definitely snobby about some things. I'm probably more pretentious than I think I am. I dunno.

We call factors divisors and the result product (guess that's whatcha meant). Anyway, it's been educational. I wasn't sure which pretentiousness was called for. Translating it I found 8 different translations and was like... nah.

Dorothy Wood

oh, icy did write it wrong. I guess my brain skipped over that and went straight to the numbers. 221 and 646 are multiples of 17. derr.
