I love them. My favourites are the car crashes. I wish you could put those pictures on a 'For Sale' sign.

I'm kind of fascinated by the autopsy photos, I guess. But mostly car crashes and crime scenes. I saw some wicked crime scene photos in a Penthouse, snaps from 1930s Australia. There was a murder-suicide, the murder of a famous cricketer, and sombody who had suicided near train tracks. Awesome. Then I turned over and some girl is getting her baps out. Killed the mood. (n)

That stuff makes me totally uncomfortable.

I realize it's a part of life whatever - but honestly, it sticks with me in a way I don't like. I've stumbled across pics of like motorcycle accidents and stuff...things I'd just as soon never see.

Morbid curiosity. I suppose there's nothing wrong with it and I'm sure everyone has a bit in them.

If you like car crashes, my first dead person I saw was in Cincinnati. I was at a stop light and traffic was backed up at the traffic signal in the right lane. I finally got a break and was able to get into the left lane and cruise on. I passed the cause of the traffic backup in the right lane. Some guy rear ended a tractor trailer with his S-10 pickup. The pickup ended up going under the tractor trailer which caused the driver to be, ahem, half the man he used to be.

I could care less about dead people now though. I've had my share of sights. I'd rather see people alive and in tact.

Shit!

Waus, I don't know so much that it makes me comfortable, I guess I just enjoy being uncomfortable. I had the book about the David Bain (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Bain) murders that happened in my hometown, and I couldn't get past the crimescene photos. That started it.

Ah I see what you're saying. I like getting those kicks out on zombie movies - make me uncomfortable, but I still like it. Something about it being real...just...ruins it for me I guess.

I used to look at Rotten.com all the time. That dude who died in a bathtub with the old school heating coils on the bottom. Fucking gross.

the worst picture i ever saw was the guy with the bottom half of his facing missing because of either a shotgun blast or a motorcycle accident, i can't remember which

i don't think he was dead though, i guess that doesn't count

DUDE! That was the motorcycle accident one I came across once! It's in a bunch of those shocker jpegs forum junkies use. I stared at that when I saw it in disbelief - like - no way it's real - but ugh...it is.

I saw that. It wasn't actually that intense. The Daniel Pearl and Nick Berg videos were, though.

Other than that I tend not to look at that sort of stuff. There's just not really a point, I'm not interested.

Gahhh I cannot stand lookin at that shit. It is sorta neat, but it just makes me so sick that the stuff is actually real and it's really depressing. In driver's education some officer came in and showed us a slide show of car accidents and it actually showed the people dead! I was like, I cannot believe they're showin me this now I'm gonna have nightmares and be paranoid for life. He was actually makin jokes about it, like it showed a car all smashed up and the dudes hand was hangin out with blood on it and he said some lame shit like "hey can you give me a hand?" then some kids laughed. It's not a laughing matter. :(

This guy's pretty appealing. In fact, they're a-peeling him off the road!

Pictures of the piles of WWI and II dead are probably the only things that I always seem to find myself looking at, in this category. Not very nice :/

Yeah, I flat out cried at the end of the tour of Dachau. When people do it to themselves, it's one thing. That place was heavier than any murder pics.

rotten.com! that is so 1990s! i haven't heard about that website in years. yonkers.

my flatmates and i are quite morbid and used to actively seek shit like this out when we first got the interwebs. now, not so much.

one of the first videos i remember seeing online was the one with the man in the boardroom who shot himself in the head after making his speech. and the way his head snapped back and the blood just.. woooooooosshhheedd out.

i accidentally saw the ken bigley video and started crying. i invested so much into his capture/attempt at rescue etc for weeks before hand and just did not want to see someone, a normal guy who i had read about for weeks, be killed in a horrifically nasty way. it was so upsetting. but then i thought to myself - why is it different with him and not the nameless people i've seen countless of times on the interwebs? they all have histories, too. you just haven't been subject to them.

In my experience, seeing a photo or video is worse than actually seeing it in the flesh, that is the body, not say, a beheading.

If I ever see something horrible online it haunts me, but on a bed in front of me I can help them. If they're a table in front of me and it's too late, I can still do my bit, and that makes all the difference.

When I see videos of kids being hit my trains and the like, the worst part is not being able to grab them, or do anything at all.

When I read about toddlers being raped and murdered, it stays with me, but when you actually see them, hold them, see for yourself that they are no longer suffering at all, it's not so bad. From my point of view anyway. nothin I have ever seen at work has stayed with me. A few living, suffering people haunt my mind, but the dead ones are all gone.

Anyhoo, there used to be a fab website that disappeared that had loads of what used to be called post mortem photos, which actually just meant dead people, not cut up ones.
In the olden days, families would get thier pictures taken with dead relatives, as often there were no photos of the person, and it was the last chance to do it. Lots of sepia pics of sad looking people with dead adults slumped against them, dead kiddies in their cribs, all done tastefully with post plants and the like. Very strange.

It's odd how these things effect people.
When I started my embalming training I was still doing nights for a nursing agency, and I was on duty at a psyc secure unit, and this other nurse had a look in my text book and puked, right there and then, at a black and white photo. Luckily he missed the book, it cost £55.

ok so I was just reading this on that site:
she called me last night at 2 AM and we talked for an hour about how she was going to move in with me and how we would start over together. together FOREVER. and she told me she was scared beause she had taken some pain pills thinkin that they were morphine and after she took them she looked at the bottle and realized they were methadone. she was scared and i told her she would be ok. i told her that i loved her and that she needed to stop fuckin around with dumb people who giove her drugs.....she fell asleep on the phone with me. i tried over and over to call her and she didn't answer. i figured that she had just passed out and that she would call me in the morning....she never woke up. i can't help but think that its my fault she's gone. why didn't i call someone to help her? why didn't i realize how serious the situation was? WHY?!?!?!

my judgemental rant:
yes I have to ask the same question. why the fuck are you such a dumbass!??????? seriously, have you never heard of the poison control center? 911 maybe? what the fuck is wrong with kids? she should blame herself. she could have saved her friend with a simple phone call, but she didn't bother. I don't know, maybe I was just smarter at 16 than these people.

on another note I also learned from that site that the guy who produced K-fed's Papozao killed himself. yeah.

yeah i did. it was pretty heavy. the camera zooms in on his face/head as they're putting the noose on... you can see him talking then he just falls. the camera goes out of wack; it gets pointed to the ground or something then back at his head which is like... 45-90 degrees to his neck with the noose. his eyes were still open when he died.... i think.

i used to be ok with all those sites, but watching and hearing my mom take her last breath fucked me up beyond belief. then, just when i think i'm past all that ish, i get shown crime scene photos at work. those are just beyond fucked up.
