I'm planning on getting up front by waiting maybe 2 hours? Would that work? Even if I have to push through ravers and chant "Beastie Boys" through other peoples sets.

i'd say you want to be in the crowd for sneaky sound system, and push up to the front when they finish.
i'd say get up the front before sneaky sound system, but what if you have to go to the bathroom or need a drink or something.
i don't know what i'm going to do :(

I will be up the front. Somehow. I've never been up the front for any show. I don't like it and I feel embarassed that the bands get to look at me. But fuck it. Maybe I'll wear the fake breasts apron.

i got to the front for the ent centre gig.
then someone behind me lifted me up and placed me in the arms of the security dude who pushed me out the side, and i had to begin the getting to the front process all over again
i should post my pics sometime. retrooooo

WHA!
it's awesome - at BDO, me and Yauch stared at each other and mouth'd/rapped the "asain, middle eastern and latin, black, white, new york etc etc" bit to each other in An Open Letter... i kid you not. he fucking stared right at me and did one of this little handthings at me while spitting. it was unreal, man
i might be going with two chicks i work with now and they'll wanna see sneaky sound system so i might make my move deeper in the field then...
if they ain't coming, umm... well i'll just make for front row regardless - probably during SSS. we shall see.

Just get to the rail. It's brings your experience to a completely different level. I guarantee it!

You should pst those snaps. That was a good show all (technical) things considered. Small crowd though.

i'm so fucking close to bailing :(
why?
alright i'm off - see ya's there (y)
or is it SITREP? or WRAP? ah anyway...
yeah, i'm gonna be biased and say the show went off. adam was going crazy on stage, as was $mark. the show was definately shorter than what i thought it'd be. i think they started around 9:40ish and finished at half-past-10. the arrangement of the songs was totally different than what i expected it to be. flute loop came on and i went beserk \m/ no MMM intro either? i just realised that.
anyhow, i see it as a good spending of 103 bucks even though i only really sat through 3 performances. rahzel was meh and J5 was meh... i didn't really get a good view of J5 and SSS was blasting in my ear so let's blame that. JS-1 had a good set to jive to - i noticed he spun Sad But True hahaha
good atmosphere overall, but you definately need to go with a group of mates... going by my(your)self was kinda ghey even if i did run into people i knew.
met Kid P, which was good, had a yarn about the show and the annoying bitch infront of me.
hitmonlee; we looked at each other right in the eye near the end of J5. i shoulda said hi but you looked upset or angry, or even as if you had no idea who i woulda been. i was standing by myself with the grey hilltops shirt.
oh! ok, rant time! i got fairly-fucking-close to front row - i was about... 3 'rows' of people away. you'll see by my pics. thing is, the people of front row were basically just girls who had no idea who beasties were. 1 guy even asked the dude infront of me "so who's doing their DJ'ing tonight?". i even had a conversation with a chick ON front row - she asked me if beasties were any good!? what the fuck are you doing on front row, bitch!? move and let me enjoy it. it just seemed like a little slap in the face - you wanna make the most of these concerts because i know beastie's might not pay Perth a visit for a while, and i dunno about you but i don't want noobs surrounding me as i get my groove on. end rant
i got sunburnt

One dude asked me if Ajax (at the front of the stage) was Mixmaster Mike, then he asked if MMM was instead the guy with the handlebar moustache setting up the decks. And then the girl with him said "No, he got shot like 2 years ago in New York." I told her she might have been thinking of JMJ. I felt bad for them.
Show was awesome. So good. It's absurd how good they still are.
When they opened with Gratitude, they did something the internet will go crazy for; they walked on stage with briefcases, placed them down and picked up their instruments. Real serious, espionage shit though. Like an old production. And it was being filmed on (I want to say 38mm????) an old, old camera by some dude (minton, was that you?). That camera-man captured the whole show, and danced onstage to Groove Holmes.
They are pulling an Ocean's 11 on us. They have staged the recording of an album, to distract us, while they record the real thing. Behind their own monitors, under our noses.
Good to meet tzar, wicked show. Thanks beastie boys. I made a point of the "one" part of Something's Got to Give.

I was wearing a Girl Skateboards "Have You Seen Her" shirt. My entry in the best T-shirt competition that is going outside in Australia.
Laver, I'm kind of over worrying about the fuck-ups. There weren't any substantial mistakes. Row 8.

sorry dude, i don't even have any idea when the end of j5 was, i assume i was at the top of the ampitheatre? i gave up on the amphitheatre really early in the day.
i wish i never went, going to a festival when you don't feel great and aren't amped to go is a really bad idea. i was upset and angry, i spent half my day throwing up, the other half being shoved around by people, i wanted to go home before the beastie boys started.
i saw the first half of them. managed to get reasonably close, but too many tall people in front of me meant i couldn't see anything. nor could i breathe. was stuck in between a bunch of people smoking and honestly thought i was going to pass out.
i managed to enjoy a few songs, until it got to the instrumental and the dickheads behind me started screaming to turn it up. actually they started that before the instrumental. fuck, you guys screaming is just going to drown out what i hear
i made my way out of the crowd during groove holmes and left the venue during ch-check it out.
no offence to the beastie boys, but i am not going to see them at another festival ever again.
and i will never go to another festival at belvoir again.

oh jesus, that's pretty bad. i like their entrance. just so typical "beastie boys"ish. notice they picked up the briefcases when they left too.... well mike did. i didn't see if yauch did. adam went crazy on his guitar which was hilarious to watch; i love the passion he performs with - all his little dances and his faces and shit.
here's some pics - they're a bit crappy but when you're in, pretty much, what was their 'moshpit', still movement was impossible. i couldn't be bothered taking pics after this either - too much of a good time. ain't wasting it by staring into a screen.

Tell me two things: What is that Piano-heavy loop MMM dropped on Pass the Mic? I'm prepared to hear it's not a Beastie Boys beat. Secondly, in Perth he dropped another beat afterwards, and they all got reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaal in-jokey, and huddled up and rapped out the song. Was that beat something new? It sounded completely alien to anything at all in the set.
Ps: To sound completely nerdy and fucked up, Adrock pointed and nodded in my direction when I held up my one in the "Someday we shall all be one" part of Something's got to Give. He probably wasn't pointing at me, but there weren't many options for me as far as showing them that my favourite song was playing.

Yes! Yauch got to stage left, and turned around and went back for his briefcase.
LOL and no offense to 'Way back Home' reminding me of my wedding, and not the Beastie Boys anymore.

No, dude. He was looking at you.(y)
Yauch's done that to me at two different shows. I threw up my two during the start of Open Letter, at a Club Show in Miami, and he gave me the old head nod.
He also did it at the show in Vegas here not too long ago during Hello Brooklyn during the "If you open the book..." part when I made the old "opening of the book" motion with my hands. LOL.
:D
