They totally kick ass. I don't know why, but I get excited whenever I see one and almost crash my car trying to get a better view. We had a family of red-tailed hawks who lived on UMD's campus and one crashed through the campus's Catholic church's stained glass window and perched himself on a pew for a week straight. They weren't allowed to move him because touching an endangered species if you're not licensed is a big no-no. Another one in the family killed a squirrel on campus and guarded his treasure from the fratboys who were walking by. He lifted up his wings menacingly and squawked at them. It was awesome. There's also one that hangs out at the Metro station, and another who sometimes hangs out on the highway overpass signs which is both cool and kinda threatening for people just passing through. Okay enough babbling. This is the little fella I'm talking about:
