Bigfoot's Foot in Virginia Landfill

FREDERICKSBURG -- The apelike foot found in a Spotsylvania County landfill still has folks scratching their heads.

Spotsylvania Sheriff Howard Smith said yesterday that he plans to send the foot to an as-yet-undetermined expert for further examination. "So we can find out what it is," he said.

Already, word of the find is making the rounds on Internet sites dedicated to Bigfoot sightings and theories.



I think it is near where Rock lives so he better have his head on a swivel.

Think about it, this makes perfect sense, If you were a bigfoot...wouldn't you live in a landfill?

It's practically deserted of people, it is a constant source of food, natural warmth from the decomposition of the garbage.

Poor thing probably died from an infection though.

FREDERICKSBURG -- Authorities now say the foot found in a Spotsylvania County landfill belonged to a bear.

Spotsylvania Sheriff Howard Smith said this morning that the state lab in Richmond made the determination after further investigation, including consulting an anthropologist.

Officials had initially thought the appendage found Feb. 10 by landfill workers might be a human foot and evidence of a homicide. They searched half of a 127-ton load of fresh garbage before halting the search because, Smith said, the state lab had determined the foot belonged to an apelike species.

I will be just fine. I live in an area of the country where people wear cowboy hats and have shotguns hanging from the rack in their truck. If I can make it here I can make it anywhere.
