You know what? They might just have something there (http://www.filmick.co.uk/search/label/milli%20vanilli). It sounds like such a bad idea at first because it's Milli Vanilli, but then you think about it, and the story of the whole sham is pretty rich. Serious possibilities.
Too bad the director's pretty lame. Someone with some vision could make something of this.

Not if you really did it right.
It's right up your alley, Skye, in a way. Like what you were talking about on the "no models, no music" thread. This story is the acme of that sort of perversion. People with no talent whore themselves because they have a certain look; everybody involved looks the other way; they're showered with adulation and financial and even artistic reward, then it all comes back to bite down hard...

I think it's everybody's fault, including the audience. People knew for a long time that they were lip-synching in concert, and at least one of them had such a thick German dialect it was obvious it wasn't him singing on the record.
That's kind of the point, I think. Whose fault is it that Paris Hilton is in the spotlight? Media, yeah, Paris, yeah, but also every single person who clicks through to read about her or see some picture. If she got zero hits a day, she'd fade really fast.

starring Chris Tucker and Larenz Tate
at least, those would be my choices
Mario Van Peebles as Rob and Jaleel White as Fab. It'll be the role of their careers.
Didn't VH1 do a movie like this already?

Too bad Ossie Davis is dead or he'd make a great Vanilli.

so who is to blame here? did their producers persuade them to pretend they could sing because they had a look that people were intrigued by in that era? or was it their own doing?

it should star their contemporary, ashlee simpson. didn't she get caught doing some of that wack ass lip synching?
yo yo, they should have the two actors play those two dudes, and then have two other guys overdub all of the dialogue in the movie. it'd be symbolic.
