Last year, probably got really drunk twice a month. This year, I've only gotten drunk during New Year's and during the Super Bowl.

I plan to get drunk this weekend, though. :)

I've been drinking less and less.

once a week, sometimes twice, is the usual for us. here and there though, if neither of us have anything major going on, we'll drink 3 times, but usually that's just 2 to 3 drinks with like dinner or something.

you really can't say you're drinking too much based on what others do. i think you should be concerned if you can't make it through the day without one, or if you do, it's all you think about and it took everything you had to keep from having a drink.

Never. I never drink ever. Had to quit.

I'm a recovering alcoholic with nothing left but damaged brain cells and a crazy notion that I can live life to the fullest w/o any reality enhancers.

But hey I still go out and expose myself to the world, just now I'm the designated dork.

me, i drink a lot on the weekends, even if i'm by myself. although i tend to drink far far more if i'm with friends. i couldn't say how much, i don't really count anymore. maybe 10-12 beers if i'm by myself (only because it's easy to count what's left of a 12 pack).

i've been drinking during the week, too though. maybe 3-4 beers a night. ive been doing it for the past few weeks. i tried to stop this week, but i got headaches and got irritable, so i started again. stopping made me feel worse, whereas i haven't experienced any problems at all with doing it. so i'm gonna keep doing it until i have problems i think.

if french peasants can do it, i don't see why i can't

I've slowed down alot. I was starting to get a mess, drinking till I blackout. I only drank about 3 times a week but, not knowing what I did when I woke up those 3 times a week were just getting tiresome and tedious. That and strange abdominal pains from excessive drinking.

I've actually went to a few AA classes but they're all about quitting totally and I really don't want to do that yet.

I just want to control my drinking and I've been doing good at that for 2 months now. I haven't exceeded 8 beers in one setting and I'm down to drinking maybe 2 times a week.

Another good thing is being on call with my job. They can call me at any time which also prevents me from getting shitfaced.

befsquire
02-15-2007, 07:51 PM
bob, it's possible the headaches are coincidental, or maybe it's just that you allow yourself to relax and let go of your stress when you're having a few beers and thus your headaches were tension headaches.

i enjoy the taste of beer, so here and there i'll grab one, but i don't count that as drinking, really. i only like expensive beer though, so i don't like to deplete my beer stash all willy nilly.

i get headaches if i don't have caffeine. for a while, i think i was addicted to excedrin migraine, and if i didn't take those, i'd get a headache. but then i went 3 days without taking them, and i got past that. can't get past the diet coke or coffee thing though. i need my caffeine.

I've cut way, way down on my booze consumption. I only drink two or three times a week now, and only two or so drinks each time. I haven't really been drunk in almost two months. A year ago this time I was getting drunk every single night, often to blackout point, which kept up through the summer until I moved into my new place and got a new job. I look back now and I don't know how I did it. Or why.

Bob
02-15-2007, 08:59 PM
i've been finding that when i drink on the weekend with friends, i get pretty close to the blackout point. not where it's like, i wake up and can't remember how i got home, but just to the point where there are bits and pieces of the night that are either a little blurry or missing entirely. like i remember one night being at a bar, and then later in the night going to a friend's house, but i don't remember leaving the bar or how i got to the house. and apparently one night i said something fairly mean about someone (that was only a joke, but nobody can tell when i'm kidding, i'm very deadpan, people tell me) that i legitimately don't remember saying (although looking back it was pretty funny so i don't totally regret it either)

i'm apparently responsible enough to not do anything dangerous when i'm on autopilot, but i don't know, i should probably be careful about that in the future

i drink way too fast, is the problem, probably about 2-3 times faster than anyone around me. i must be trying to compensate for something

I dried out for about 4 weeks with my summer school thing going on. Last night I had two pints, and then 3 glasses of red when I got home. Usually, if I'm on my own time I drink 6-10 beers a night, maybe 4 nights a week. But with uni on, I tend to not drink at all. I don't really go out and get hammered, but last Saturday night I probably put about 16 beers away.

I met a strange lesbian (I love lesbians by the way)who was quite rude to me, so I told a stranger that the people who owned the house don't have any carpet because the lesbian ate it all.

I started to have anxiety attacks if I didn't have a drink nearby before i quit drinking. I can honestly tell you I've blacked out at least 300 times between ages 13 and 21. I also had 3 dui's by 21, many fender benders and physical scrapes galore also. The final straw in my drinking is when I found myself living in an roach infested $80 a month flophouse and my Nalley's Chili caught on fire on the hotplate while I lay passed out one night.

i probably drink 2 or 3 days during the week. but when i do, its usually not much. like tonight, thursday, i alwyas have friends over for cocktails and we have one drink and just hang out all night.

i've really only been extremely drunk about 4 or 5 times, and 2 of them were around my 21st birthday, and the other was the weekend before i found out that i was diabetic, so i dont really count those.

i'm all about having a drink or two whenever, but i'm not much of a fan of getting really drunk or anything that comes with it, especially after some of the stuff that some of my good friends have done because of it.

There's a lot of that in my family, and I'm the baby by a lot, so I got to see a lot of drama. I used to drink a lot in spurts with friends, but the family experience has made me very uncomfortable about drinking alone.

So I take it I'm the only one here who's never drank? And no it's not against my religion, nor am I "straightedge" or whatever, as most people seem to assume. I've just never had the desire. I've had a few sips here and there but never liked anything. That's not to say that there isn't some type of alcoholic drink out there that I'd like if I tried it, but I've yet to find one. Anyway, nothing against drinking or people who drink.

Thanks, but do you just wake up that day and say "it's got to stop?" and then you stick to it? It was sort of like that for one of my brothers. He was forced to go to some court-ordered therapy and he was being an ass about it, but then one day in class he thought that he should stop and he did. It's been almost 20 years for him. Another brother did that with smoking.

I'm more of an "I'll stop tomorrow" person. :o

I tend to drink only socially, sometimes the boy and I will have some when together.

However, I've been a very social person since the summer. I slowed down while I was sick but I drank heavily for the past four nights now when I was out with friends. It's rare for me to do so that may times in a row though. Maybe 2 or 3 times a week would be the usual, and spread out.

I keep drinking bottles of Asti lately. I have one sitting in the fridge for the weekend.

i used to be very anti-alcohol because a lot of my friends got into it way too young and abused the hell out of it, and an ex of mine was a closet alcoholic and i didn't realize that that wasn't how normal people enjoyed alcohol. now, though, i'm becoming a wino and i love it. red is yummy. i got through periods where i'll have a glass every few nights with dinner, or maybe a beer or two on the weekends. i'm kind of a lightweight, so i can't do much. i really only drink heavier than that with friends (maybe once or twice a month, if that) and sometimes when the boyfriend and i feel like getting drunk together just for the hell of it. when i was alone for a week last month i drank about a whole bottle of white in one night because i was so lonely and bored though :o

I dont drink any during the week because of work and my workout schedule, in fact I dont buy any alcohol for my apartment.

However, come 4:00 on Friday evening after work, its GO TIME!

beer, mixed drinks, shots, martinis, cocktails, you name it, we drink it!

I always go to this one place on Saturday where they have specials on their martinis (67 of them to be exact) I'm very fond of the watermelon ones!

That really isn't that much... I remember (well, vaguely) nights at work where everybody in the kitchen was pulling off their own 26 of rum or vodka, while the bar sent back pitchers of beer or rounds of triples in exchange for free food - all while we took turns switching out to the compound to smoke dope (or do lines if that was your thing; it wasn't mine). And then we'd sit and drink till the sun came up once our shifts were over.

I honestly don't know how that place turned four million a year under those circumstances. From what I hear it hasn't gotten any better since I left.

I was drinking every night for 3 weeks straight. Usually liquor and rarely beer or beer level drinks. I may have taken one day off and not by choice. This went on for long months. Now, since my very bad trip I get drunk on average...3-5 days a week. Tonight, I went out to the bars with a few friends and I was sober when I entered the bar, which is a rare thing for me. I didn't drink at the first bar ( one being finances), but at the second bar my friend bought me some crazy mix with various liquors and I eventually had some kind of buzz going, though not too crazy. Had a small amount of wine when I got home and I'm just tired.

Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays are definite drunk days. Wednesday and Thursday are maybes and Sunday is a wild card, as is Monday.

I've cut back and feel slightly better and my wallet does too.

So, it went 3 weeks everyday, one or two days off and return to the 3 weeker and repeat.

I was a big drinker in college and the first couple of years after. I stopped drinking to excess after I realized that awful feeling the next day was avoidable if I slowed down or stopped the night before.

And I was very active, so the carloric intake was unimportant and not noticeable -- as it is to most men in their 20's.

One way to stop drinking so much is to start to notice how many 30+ year olds have paunches. Then notice the ones that look like they're getting ready to hibernate. Then notice the ones that are hiding a medicine ball in their stomach.

Before my liver surgery, I would have 1-3 beers or glasses of wine a week.

Put them in the washing machine.

In 2000 I was drunk 5 or 6 days of the week for most of the year. I don't know how I did it, but I could get vodka for 10 bucks a bottle, and mix it with 40c lemonade. Or a dozen beers for $10. On a big night it was both. 20 bucks. One day I woke up and my abdomen was spasming so hard I thought my spine would crack. I retched for 30 hours, pretty much. Fuck I just destroyed myself. My eyes went yellow-ish. I stunk all the time. It was heavy.

A friend of mine beat Streetfighter 2 while being propped up by two girls.

the trick is to use two bags, one inside the other. vomit leaks through shopping bags, even if they appear holeless.

i'm a pro at vomitting. i always make it to the toilet, as i know exactly when i'm going to vomit, and can usually hold it.
