I'd explain but it's better to read for yourself.

Okay, it's got some links to DL another song. And I think it's where I had been hoping he'd go musically since the Perfect Drug remixes. I mean, yeah, it's got the /quiet/LOUD/quiet thing going on but so what... it's Trent fucking Reznor.

I think you meant "duly noted," didn't ya?

Anyway, NIN is the most overrated band in music history.

nah, you're thinking of Coldplay

Blashpemy. Sure, X & Y wasn't as good as Parachutes or Rush Of Blood...but it was damn good. I'm a fan.

The overrated thing definitely fits with NIN, however.

what does "overrated" even mean?

well, I'll tell you.

it means way more people like ______ than you do.

by that logic, there are shit loads of things that I'd consider "overrated" cuz way more people like those things than I do.

It's a pretty bullshit term, second only to saying something is "underrated" which of course means you can't comprehend why people don't like something as much as you do.

you think they're overrated.

I do not.

neither of us is right or wrong.

give it at least two listens.

ok, it's growing on me but I'll tell you, it's strongly lacking during the chorus.

Only in the drumming. It could at least use a few tom rolls, some cymbal crashes.

It's just the repetitive drumming all the way through the song makes it a little tiresome. It's not too bad though. I'm semi interested to hear more of the album and they're still keeping their edge as well.

The Notorious LOL

yeah it sounds unmastered to me. I kind of like that though...the stripped down feel...

lolz @ coldplay being any good whatsoever and NIN being "overrated." maybe in the mid-nineties. not now, certainly.

what the hell is this "presence" stuff all about?

It's part of the viral marketing but I don't know if this is going to play into the concept album. Long story short, there's a cure for addictive drugs via a manufactured substance produced by (a fake) pharmacutical company. It causes halucinations of that hand coming out of the sky which people are calling The Presence.

It sounds stupid when you read that but when you figure parts of it out it seems less cheesy.

Btw, a lot of the files being released now are supposedly unmastered and will differ slightly on the new album as Trent tends to add things in compared to earlier leaks. At least it was that way with With Teeth. And I'll be damned if you can tell me NIN are more overrated than Tool right now. I dare ya.

I am listening to it right now. I agree with ericlee. It seems like there needs to be something more at the chorus. It sounds like it wants to go somewhere and then it just doesn't. But its an auspicious start.
