No, it's boggle. And it's more like a hatred.

I think it's scrabble. I Googled "adrock ?uestlove" and came up with a thread from here linking to an article about how ?uestlove quit out of an online scrabble match and Adrock confronted him about it once and he got all defensive about it or something.

that adrock interview addressing the situation is hilarious. "when you're done playing scrabble with celebrities, come back to NY and play with your real friends."

Aside from the whole Scrabble situation, I do remember, as I'm sure many of you may, that around the time of TT5B, Quest was criticizing the Beasties heavily over at the okplayer boards...

I mean there's constructive criticism, which he gave plenty of from what I remember, and disrespect. He came kind close to latter, in my opinion, from his postings.

I remember that whole thing. I think he got defensive that either the media or some critics said something about how the Beasties are much better than The Roots. Or I think more specifically that "Ch Check It Out" was a better single than "Dont Say Nothin." The word around that time was the The Roots sold out, mainly cuz "The Tipping Point" sounded like a deliberate attempt to sound more mainstream.I remember him giving the Beasties props for being legends and all that, but he did have some disparaging comments about how it's an insult to compare the Beasties rhyming ability's to Black Thoughts. He also said something about their rhymes making sense with their "sonic landscape" which I thought was an attempt to call Ch Check It Out "cheap" sounding. But this was 2 years ago, I dont know why it would be brought up again?

I do remember the "Don't Say Nothin'" video looked like most rap videos out today, and I was disappointed.

I don't, however, remember the remark about it being an insult to compare the two groups rhyming abilities. It's a well known fact the Beasties aren't known for lyrical prowess, but he's just downright dissing some pioneers.

I specifically remember him criticizing their timing on Ch-Check it Out saying, "Do they even know where the one is?"

he also slightly attempted to play the race card, claiming the beastie's only got away with having all the fighting and explosions of the "ch-check it out" video cuz they were white.

wow i find it interesting that some of you are labeling questlove as a bad guy just because he didn't like the beastie's last album or because he gave some criticism...seriously grow up y'all. he's giving the bboys more props than he has disses.

and btw i'm sure the only rivalry ?uestlove & adrock have is when they play scrabble.........u wish u could play scrabble with adrock!!:p

alot of these statements go far beyond anything he had to say about the beasties. at least i know mine do. i've had a strong distaste for (n)uestlove's attitude long before he made those mildly negative remarks towards the bboys. he's always given off a bitter vibes towards other artists in general in interviews. and he's not the only one in the roots to act such, either. plus his drumming is hella boring.

Ch-Check It Out had slapstick violence. Anybody can get away with that, no matter the race.

yeah, you pretty much cant talk about the band, unless its incredible, without board people getting offended.

I think there even were people dissing money mark when he had that small spat with the band.
