I still appreciate and respect them but I'm certainly not batshit obsessed with them like I once was. After the excitement of them finally releasing a new album wore off, I realized TT5B kinda sucks and since then I've been kinda whatever towards them in general. They're definitely not my favorite band anymore, that's for sure.
I dunno if this is the best place to post this, but I saw a guy yesterday wearing a "coldplay" t-shirt.

When Licensed to Ill came out, I was so hardcore into them. I drew the cover for it on all of my folders, drew the one logo of thiers on my Chuck Taylors, stole a huge Vdub badge from the front of a van.
I was crazy for them for about 5 years. Rocked LTI in my beatbox and walked through the halls of school.
Paul's Boutique came out and it was the same craziness. CYH came out and that's all my friends and I listened to.
I dunno, Hello Nasty came out and I'd just give it a couple listens. Not so much hype. TT5B came out and I have listened to that CD maybe 3 times.
ill communication's pretty damn good though
also, you totally could have used "vis-a-vis" in this thread title

I can't believe I forgot to mention that. Oops. Everything they put out is pretty damn good.
I'll still crank out their c.ds at parties and such but I just don't listen to them on a daily/hourly basis anymore.

I listen to the re-mixes section once a week to checkout the styling, but never really put on a disc of the BB's anymore.
The thing is this, when I'm out and about doing the daily routine every once and awhile a Beastie Boys song comes on and I think to myself, "WTF I have a few thousand posts on this bands website". At that point I question my sanity.
Deep down I know the boys still have it in them to drop the Mother of all Hip Hop discs. I would not be the least bit surprised if they shred the charts one more time.
Then again, I would not be surprised if they shut down the band and went RV'ing.

I've completely outgrown Licensed to Ill, never really enjoyed Paul's Boutique the way some do, kinda enjoy Check Your Head, Ill Communication is pretty okay, I still enjoy Hello Nasty quite a bit and I rarely if ever listen to TT5B.
The Beastie Boys are like that best friend you had in elementary school you swore would be your best friend for life, but then junior high comes and you meet new people and you only see your elementary friend every so often, but when you do, it's just not the same.

Well, I discovered them in 2004, so at the time I was VERY obsessed with them, they were all I listened to (well them and Quarashi). Then when the inital "OMG THESE GUYS ARE AWESOME!!!" feeling died down, so did the obsession, though I still listened to them daily.
Nowadays, I wouldn't say I'm "obsessed" again, but I'm definitley more passionate about the Beastie Boys then I was in 2005. Most likely because my friend is starting to get into them, so he's looking to me for songs, interviews, and music videos to see and listen to. I'm his go-to Beastie guy.
Then again, earlier this year, I realized that my mp3 playlists had nothing but Beastie Boys on them, and I was like, "Wait a minute. Before I got into the Beastie Boys, I used to listen to a whole bunch of different stuff. I want to be like that again." So, I've been making a conscious effort to listen to a variety of different artists again, and discover new music constantly, because discovering new music is fun.
And one more thing, I've realized that I don't get worked up about their new stuff the same way I do about their old stuff. For example:
"Ooh. The Beastie Boys have a studio cam now? Cool!"
But then, there's
"Ooh. An old concert from 1992? I MUST LISTEN TO THIS NOW!!!"
I think all their albums pre-TT5B spoiled me.

Forums.TheSmartMarks.com. Seriously, I think about 60% of the posters there don't watch wrestling anymore. And the mods know this too. That's why they've repositioned the forum as an all-around pop culture site. The reason wrestling gets its own section is because...well, where the hell do you place pro wrestling in? Entertainment? Sports? That's their reasoning.

I can't remember the last time I heard a Beastie Boys album in full. I think it was last year when I added Hello Nasty to my iPod.
Nowadays, what I'll do is, I'll listen to a certain number of songs again and again for weeks or months on end. This is good in a way, because once I get tired of those songs, I can move onto a new set of songs, and those songs will sound fresh again cuz I haven't listened to them in a while.
I also got songs from the Hub that I haven't listened to in a while. Maybe I should bring those out again.

I still listen regularly. I don't really know why some people didn't enjoy TT5B, I thought it was good.
I will admit, it was the least diverse of all the Beastie albums. And although I agree with them on politics, it is heavily political. But listening to some of the rhymes in "Crawlspace," I can't help but laugh at the creativity and wonder why people wouldn't enjoy the album or give it "1 out of 15 stars" as some of you have put it.

i get always smile when i hear my radio station plays the beastie boys. it's because that i don't listen to them much nowadays that i can appreciate them more. it's always a nice suprise to hear them played
When I heard "Sure Shot" played on the radio last year, I was *this* close to telling my mom to "STOP THE CAR NOW SO THAT I CAN GET OUT AND BOOGIE!"
Which is weird, because I played "Sure Shot" like a day or two before, but hearing someone else play the Beastie Boys makes it more "special" or something, I guess.

I listen to at least one of their albums every 2 or 3 weeks.
But I throw remixes, live performances, etc, on various mixes that I listen to regularly.
There was a thread in Beastie General that I think Padster started a long time ago that pretty much summed up my and many other peoples relationship with them.
The first letter in each bullet point ended up spelling DOPE, if that jogs anyones mammaries.

Really? ONE? Thats something I'd reserve for Paris Hilton.

I'll agree with that somewhat, the production wasn't like their previous albums. I think they were going for a funny album more than anything, moreso than a lot of their earlier albums. Like during "Shazam!" when Mike D just starts mumbling. Its kind of funny, but really weird and not pleasing to the ears at all.
Would you say this album really missed Mario C?
