First time. I don't get any of this shit.
EIC? WTF!
society's supposed to encourage enterprise
yet the more clever you are, the harder your taxes are to file
my 1040EZ is enough for me, i'd rather not risk being more enterprising

Well I mean I made like $3,500 last year. Thats fine, but I guess I need to go to my bank to see how much interest they gave me...
And also, in the thing my old work mailed me, they said that "Advance EIC Payment" was 0.00, but I don't think that is what I put in the box.
I too am filling out a 1040EZ.
You know, they should've put this shit in a required class in ONE of the 13 years I was in public schools.

if you want to know whether you qualify for the earned income credit, you can see if you're eligible by clicking here (http://apps.irs.gov/app/eitc2006/SetLanguage.do?lang=en).

Got news for ya. You're not supposed to understand the tax system in this country. No one is. It's designed like that on purpose. If people actually understood what the fuck was going on with their money they might actually see that Uncle Sam is hosing everyone and ol' Sammy boy doesn't want that.
The IRS (read: government) is the biggest gangster in operation today and always has been. You hear about Al Capone and John Gotti, Sammy Gravano, Pablo Escobar, drug cartels, so on and so forth. You hear about Michael Milken and Ivan Boesky swindleing Wall Street out of billions. You hear about the clowns that tore apart WorldCom and Enron. You never hear about the shit the government is up to.
Uncle Sam is a greasy, sheisty sumbitch. That's it, that's all.
The government takes money out of your check every two weeks all year long. They call it taxes. The money you have left you can put into an interest bearing account. Guess what? You have to pay taxes on the interest earned. With the money that you didn't stick in the account you can go out and buy food and clothing for your family. But, no, wait! When you get to the register you have to pay a sales tax for that shit too. Here's my favorite part. Ever year on April 15 the IRS comes to you, after juicing you like motherfucker for the last 365 days, and has the nerve to say 'Yeah, ya' know what? I don't think we took enough out during the year. You owe us a little bit more. Kthnx. ' Now with what's left you are supposed to live happily ever after.
That is the most gangster shit I have ever seen in my life. How many times can they tax the same fucking dollar? For some people, what's left over is more than enough. But for most people, it's not.
I skipped filing my taxes for about three or four years when I was your age. Irresponsible and illegal as all hell but at the time I didn't give a fuck. My attitude then was 'fuck it. Let them come and lock me up. I don't care.' That pretty much is still my attitude today but I just don't need the fucking hassle. I'm not up for it now like I was then. So I begrudgingly pay my taxes. I have never heard anything from the IRS about the few times I never filed but I am sure I will eventually.
