I found a tape of his in my car (y) , actually I kind of borrowed it from a guy who lived in my flat before I moved in. Fela Kuti is (was?) a cool guy with about 30 wives. Femi Kuti is nice, too.

fela was something else. he was the founder of "highlife jazz". the african government killed his mother. his life story is incredible, and tragic, and his music reflects this.(y)

Yep, I've got some of his LPs. Dope dope stuff. Maybe not easily digestable to people who think a 7 minutes song is long but if you're into jazz and funk he's untouchable.
