How do you guys like his solo career? I'm pretty sure most of us here are into The Fugees, but I don't know the stance towards Wyclef.
Personally, I don't think it gets any better than his debut album, "The Carnival." Subsequent releases are good, too ("The Preacher's Son" was probably his closest), but it's hard to top "The Carnival."

it's more of a "who cares?" and a shrug of the shoulders. i just didnt realise anyone seriously contemplated things like that. anyhoo, that song he did with the rock is pretty killer and that is all that i will say on the subject. good day to you sir. :)

While searching for Wyclef, I came across a VERY interesting find.
Soul Asylym (with Wyclef) performing "Gone Till November."

My life-long dream of fusing grunge with Wyclef is realized.

You know I'm going to have to hurt you for that "life-long dream" comment, don't you?
Anyways, he was good when I saw him live in 1998.

as bad as it sounds, I'm kinda glad he never really amounted to much after the carnivel. i was just so sick of seeing him around all the time. he kind of comes off real pompous and snooty. he thinks he's a much deeper artist than he really is, takes himself too seriously. talented, though, no doubt about it.

Pretty much sums up my thoughts. Haven't heard anything else, though.

I was really big on the "Carnival" when it came out....especially when Dylan showed up in the video for "Gone Til November".....the intro/interludes/court room diatribe were sooo stupid right from the start though....just as the interludes on "Miseducation of LH" were tiresome.....but Wyclef has never come back from that ridiculous trak with the Rock wrestling guy.....I think he was beat down by his own ego and a larger yearly GNP than all of Haiti....

will.i.am has taken over his role as ubiquitous dread-locked pop-rap group member / producer who jumps on everyone and their mothers songs.
wyclef has some great songs in his past, but for the most part he bugs me.
Ghetto Supastar is the best song made by an ex-Fugees member.

Yeah, I'm generally not a fan of most "skits" in rap albums. Though the court room stuff in "Carnival" was silly, happily it was pretty minimal.
