Suck.
A few years ago I had hives for a while. The doc couldn't figure out what caused them, they did a bunch of tests. They were just left as "unexplained." They went away for a few years, now they're back. And they itch. Anybody else bugged with these?

No, but I might start putting Hives in my reason for editing box. I needed a new affliction to go with Rickets, Gout and Scurvy.
It sounds terrible.

I've had hives on my right hand twice, and both times they occurred near the coming of university hand-in dates
I still have scars on two of my fingers :(

The hives gave you scars? Wow, never heard of that. I've had them pretty bad, but it's never done that for me.
Alot of people have stress related hives like that. I don't think that's the case for me....the last few years have been pretty stressful, and I've had no sign of them until now.

They're not big, ugly, noticable scars, but the skin on my fingers is so fucked and pock-marked from the amount of scarring that my fingers often split open in cold weather :/

Yup. Stress will do it for me. I got a mild case of eczema (I thought it was hives, but it's just bumps that are similar) last month because of the stress of grad school applications.
And new clothes that are unwashed. There's some kind of chemical that they spray on new clothes to keep them crisp or new-looking or I don't even know why they do it. But they told me I gotta wash stuff before I put it on because I broke out and itched so bad my mom had to drop off another change of clothes when I was at school. :(

Yeah, new clothes are all stiff and have that factory smell. They make me itch too.
I remember going to the doc years ago when they were bad, and they took a marker or whatever, and drew a grid on my back. I'm talking tons of squares. In each square they stuck a needle, and each needle had a substance on it. If that "square" broke out all red, they'd know what I was allergic too.
They never found anything, 'cept a slight allergy to mold.

i used to get them when I was little... i think pretty minorly... the doctors told my mom it was some kind of grass that caused them, but couldn't tell her what kind... so i continued to play outside and deal with hives every summer

I used to get them a few years ago really, REALLY really bad. The docs could never explain it, I was stuck on a massive dosage of prednisone each time I got them and it sucked.
Then ms. cosmo saved my life by sending me a bottle of herpanacine (http://www.diamondformulas.com/herpana.htm). I took them once I had them again and they went away. It looked like an outbreak was going to start maybe once or twice after that so at the first hint, I took some of the supplements. After that, I haven't had any since and that's about two years ago now.
I'd recommend at least giving it a shot (y)

Yeah, grass for me too. I'll sit in the grass in the summer and I'll get little long reddish-pink scratches on my skin that'll raise up. Bleh. :(

I've only had them once, when I was 10, after eating Snickers Crunchies. I haven't had them since.
It got real bad. I had them all over my body. I had to go the hospital. The doctor said that if I had showed up at the hospital even a half hour later, it would have been too late, because my throat would have closed up and I would have died.
