Probably quite a few (30-50 percent?). I would imagine that after the release (s) of Aglio E Olio and definitley Some Old Bullshit some fans went back to find the earlier hardcore recordings.

All of the pre- "She's On It" fans definitely heard and liked it (all 10 of us lol).

Hard to say how many people like the early hardcore recordings today without conducting a poll. It was more of period thing so it could be that the fan-base is split on the quality of B.E.A.S.T.I.E. hardcore.

Would be nice to know...

I liked it because it was different. I picked it up in 1987 at used record store for like $4. I wasnt too familiar with early punk.

I didn't start paying attention to the Beasties until "Cookie Puss" came out. I did also have that NY Thrash cassette that came out on ROIR which had "Riot Fight" and another song on it. I guess those were re-released on the 'Some Old Bullshit' release?

I love this stuff from the Hardcore times ! I was born in 1981 so I was too young to recognize them , first contact was 1994 with LTI and later I found the SOB and AEO (y)

I discovered PollyWogStew around 88 or 89...just before PB came out. A friend of mine gave me a cassette with PWS and Rock Hard & Beastie Groove.

While I'm not a huge fan of hardcore, I can appreciate PWS as their roots and beginning. (y)

I became a fan with Hello Nasty and the hearing of various singles from other albums on the radio and compilations and stuff... so I bought the anthology. I brought it home, turned it up, listened for a couple seconds, then pressed the forward button on my CD player.

Since then I have grown to appreciate their hardcore music (I even get songs from Pollywog Stew stuck in my head) and they are the reason I got into bands like the Bad Brains and Minor Threat.

Time For Livin, Tough Guy, Heart Attack Man, all of Aglio E Olio, etc. are all amazing.

i love hardcore and was raised on it, especially NYHC, and hip hop too. My funny story is Beastie Boys were my favorite band a couple years before i realized they were a hardcore band lol (i was about 10 when licenced to ill came out and they were instantly my favorite band).. but i already had every minor threat song memorized around the same time lol.. what a great way i grew up *awwwwww memories lol

I always thought that the live shows they have put together over the years were always better if Hardcore was apart of the set.

When they played Michelle's Farm during the CYH tour it was off the fucking hook!

their hardcore songs were the last ones I warmed up to, but i came around nonetheless. wouldn't be the first style of music I was apprehensive about that the beasties opened me up to. they're a rewarding band to follow, in that regard.
