I've never had a tater tot. Am i missing out?

I made stovies earlier. Truly the "comfort cold weather food" of champions.

With brooooon sauce of course.

they're pretty good actually. i think they're meant for children, so i always feel a little silly when i buy them, but fuck it, they're easy to make and they taste good.

there's probably some horrible catch, like they instantly reform into their original shape in your digestive tract and proceed to directly clog an artery or something, but out of sight, out of mind if you ask me

they are not very filling though, i just finished a plate of them and i'm still hungry.

i just need like...a box of food, i'm too beat to prepare anything

also, what's a stovie

Dude, the next time you go grocery shopping, buy the Ore Ida Crispers. They are so fucking tasty, it isn't funny. Also, go to the spice aisle and buy yourself some french fry seasoning to sprinkle on that shit.

there's a grocery store like right on the corner of my street, it's so convenient that i just go there, but it's kind of a hippie co-op type store, so the frozen food selection isn't that great. the only tots i could find were these silly kids ones, but fuck it, it was cheap and i have no shame, so i took 'em

what's a stovie

Probably the easiest way to sum it up is a dish of mulched potatoes with onions with animal fat and meat stirred through it.

You peel a couple of onions and maybe about 3/4 KG of potatoes. You need a pot of roast beef dripping which is pretty much animal fat and this kinda gravy shit. You can only buy that from a "proper" butchers.

Put the roast beef dripping in a big pot and it'll melt, throw in the onions and potatoes. Let all that simmer on a low heat for about 2 hours or so just stirring it very occassionally. It all "mulches down". You then add some sort of meat - I just stir in a tin of corned beef - people who can be bothered would finely cut up some left over roast beef or something.

Shit's amazing. We need nastee to confirm this fact.

sounds pretty good, but i'm far too lazy to do all that

i realize you never claimed that it was a lazy man's food, but i feel like i should just mention again the fact that i'm really lazy right now because it's an integral theme for this thread

if someone gave me a box of stovies though, i'd eat them

I just ordered chinese food. yarr.

one time for fun my friends got some frozen blue french fries and some chocolate french fries. the blue ones were good tasting, but the chocolate ones were disgusting. I can't really find anything much about them on the internet, so apparently they don't make them anymore.

ah, here we go. RIP funky fries :( (http://money.cnn.com/2003/06/17/news/companies/failed_food/?cnn=yes)

It actually doesnt take much effort bar the peeling of 2 onions and a few potatoes and slicing them up. You just leave it sitting there for 2 hours maybe stirring it 2-3 times when you can be bothered. Stir in a can of corned beef at the end and it's done. It's more about it taking time than effort really.

Just stick it in a big tupperware and put it in the firdge and it's several days worth "ready meals" done in the microwave in 2-3 minutes.

Compared to sticking something from the freezer into the oven for 25 minutes, it takes more effort though - granted.

I used to go to a bar where you could get tater tots with your burger instead of fries. With a little sour cream on the side, it was pure heaven.

Tater tots need sour cream. Not catsup. I have no idea why the shape of the potato influences its condiment pairing so much, but it does, it really does!

There is nothing finer than sitting around pantless and eating tater tots. Hope you have some catsup.

We moved to an area with a chinese takeaway place that does food in those boxes you see on American sitcoms. Being a huge fan of this, the wife insists we eat there all the time. I've eaten Special Fried Rice so many times this past few weeks, it's not even special anymore.

My meal of choice: 21 chicken nuggets, salt, and a side bowl of BBQ sauce.
