So I thought I'd drop something partial mayself.

If it's 60's/Northern Soul/Spy Themed, then I expect it to be fantastic. I'm not worried about it being terrible because of the genre, but rather if it's executed poorly. However, points will be awarded for trying something so bold.

Think about your favourite Beastie Boys song. If it's a hip-hop tune, you're probably going to have to bury it. If it's Gratitude, you're going to have to say bye-bye. Yes, they'll be etched in the group conscience we share, but they'll no longer be a part of this new Beatie Boys. That's harsh, but kind of interesting. It probably won't even resemble Sabrosa!

It's not because it's a Beastie Boys record that I expect I'll like it, it's that the Beastie Boys are doing something so far out of leftfield, that I would defy any hip-hop outfit to ever match it for sheer randomness. It takes guts to do what sounds this unpredictable, to say the least.

It might be terrible. No big loss. It might not even follow these themes, and we got duped. But I doubt it. Shit, we could even be off with that Northern Soul Research. I think they're really just testing how open minded their fans are, and I dig that. (y)

Ok...that's the first I heard about the new record being northern soul.

I'm actually a Northern Soul DJ. Like I play the old records and mix them together for people to dance to and make northern soul mixes. I cannot imagine the Beastie Boys making a northern soul record a la throwback sound...like many English bands have tried to do since the 80s. Most of them suck.

Maybe they'd make beats with old soul records, but...I hope they don't. The whole scene is built around being the only person with a certain record. It puts you in demand and you get your theme songs that people associate with you. I'd be PISSED if they had some of my records and kids disassociated them from me and/or thought I was a fraud. Ha.

How bizarre. You all blew my mind with that. Here's to hoping it's not a northern soul record!
