But are you any good at it?
Can you use a knife like a real woman or soldier, or do you have to use a peeler?
I have to use a peeler or they all end up the size of OXO cubes.

Then you sir, are a cheat!!
Proclaim your peeling skills when you could do as good a job with a sharpened flint as a peeler!
A caveman could peel rings around you, let alone a chef.

I cannot use a peeler to save my life! I have had this little sharp knife for years that works so well.

we don't have a peeler. we use KNIVES. because we are HARD.
my flatmate loves 'er potatoes (http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c361/nastee/IMG_4518.jpg).
hah. we started preparing a tuna steak and potatoes dauphinoise with mange tout meal tonight and it seriously took us like 4 hours of sorting out. i started taking pictures for the what's for tea thread but then my battery died :( so this is the only gurning picture i have. we always peel our veg/potatoes in front of the tv and into a plastic bag cos we're KER-AZY like that. she had the easy job. i had to peel and chop 6 red onions and peel and de-seed TEN vine tomatoes. GEEZ.

Potato peels harbor significant amounts of chemical residues that may be mildly toxic, adding to the evidence that potato peels could be harmful to people, according to a new Cornell study.

mashed potatoes are supposed to be smooth
they sound more like "broken up potatoes with skin"
anyway, never buy an ikea peeler, it sucks. my mum also peels in front of the tv. i prefer to remain in the kitchen as usually starch goes everywhere.

I peel potatoes with the large mandible protruding from my big toe. Also, the potato is hanging from a rope.

Speaking of squash, there are hundreds of varieties of winter squash out there, even if the only ones you commonly find in the store are acorn, butternut and ornamental pumpkin.
A trip to a farm stand will quickly yield possibilities such as delicata, Hubbard, kabocha and turban squash.
mmmm.....
