is being micro-managed constantly. Partrcularly by flappy, nervous men.

Please let me get on with my work. I am perfectly capable of managing myself, I know what deadlines I have, I know what the priorities are. I can read emails which you are copied into, and therefore do not need you to forward them to me with comments like 'H, please can you action asap'. Also, I got coached on which words to use in a presentation on Monday 'Do not mention deferred items, call them 'replanned'

FFS, if you can't trust me to get on with my work by myself, why put me in charge when you're away???

Rant over.

For now.

I have a First class degree in design. I have exhibitied my work in both London and New york. I have won three awards for my work and have had work printed in lots of design books. I have seen students who have copied my work for college projects.

And yet I still have managers who procrastinate like there is no tomorrow (n)

i actually like my job, but no one above me has a degree, and is quite frankly, retarded when it comes to business skills. in fact the only high manager that had a uni degree was recently made redundant

I love my job too, I really do. I just can't stand being overly managed like this. Oh well.

Take a gun into work, shoot them all. You'll be promoted in no time (y)

The dentist I work for on Saturdays micromanages like it's nobody's bidness. The worst is when he uses me as a puppet, tells me to call someone and then stands over me telling me what to say to them, regardless of the fact that he can't hear what they're saying.

Person on the phone: "I want to come in on Monday, but I get off at 3:30, can I come in at 4:00?"
Me: "Yes, there's a spot at 4:00. I'll put you down for that time."
Dr.: "See if she can come at 1:00 instead!"

ANNOYING. AS. FUCK. It's like, hey, look, I know you want me to book patients as early in the day as possible. I KNOW that, and if I'm able to, I WILL. I'm competent enough to understand that you want patients in as soon as possible, you've pounded it into my head every two minutes. So IF I'm on the phone talking to someone and give them a later appointment, it's NOT because I forgot your preference, it's that they can only come in later.

GOD. DAMN. IT. Another reason I'll be super excited if I get into grad school. No more Saturday mornings with him. Great dentist, bad businessman.
