Mike D and the boys got themselves involved in X-Large clothing in the 90's. I can never get the details down precisely, but it wasn't the Beasties own clothing line exactly...they sorta just put some money into it/promoted it etc or something along the lines (those in the complete know feel free to correct me).

Some of their own designs were made though, and it was generally known as the Beasties clothing line amongst people and fans once they became involved. You can get the threads via ebay.

Cey has also designed some Beastie-inspired tracksuits and shoes for Adidas. You can usually find them on ebay.

Follow this link http://www.beastiemania.com/qa/xlarge.php to a piece we did ages ago on Beastiemania.com describing how Mike D is/was involved with X-Large.

I recall the first store sold a lot of dead stock (discontinued items) with a lot of work wear. The band liked to mention the shirts with slanted pockets custom designed. When the other stores opened there wasn't much in them. One wall would have shoes, another would have button down shirts or their own jacket designs, and then in the front they would sell Mo' Wax toys or something. Sometimes you would see Grand Royal shirts, sometimes you wouldn't. Sometimes there were X-large logos on everything, sometimes there weren't. Mike D. was around the NY store pretty frequently. X-large opened up right next to it, and that was more of a vanity project where some of it's investors, like Kim Gordon from Sonic Youth were supposed to be the designers too. Anyway these stores have gone through a lot of transitions, opening and closing, focusing on rare shoe exclusives, focusing on denim, etc. There was a point around the time Grand Royal disbanded that some of the X-large stores closed, and my guess is Mike D. scaled down his involvement or even sold out right before.
