Lil Wayne - Rick Rubin
If Rick did another heavy metal style beat and Wayne killed it I'd be all ears.

I just hope Doom and Madlib eventually get out the new Madvillain.

i think its good, but gets old pretty fast. i thought it was a fine record that didnt deserve everybody blowing their load over it.

i agree. it was a thoughtful piece of work, though I feel it was quite overrated. maybe it was a little more abstract than my tastes, but damn those guys got skills.

I see it as having become pretty 'trendy'. Is that fair? I like how the samples are pretty much unusable and madlib crafts something that DOOM still kills. But that's just me.

I think Sly's fried for good.
I'd like to see somebody really strong produce Michael Jackson. Maybe Little Steven -- somebody that wouldn't let him over-arrange and oversing shit, be satisfied with half an album's worth of filler... all that crap. Just break it down and make a fucking soul record. (y)

Beck - Danger Mouse
Holy fuck, this is a good idea.

Sly and The Family Stone by George Clinton
I'd buy those albums in a heartbeat (y)
As for the Micheal Jackson-Phil Spector joint I'd be interested to hear something like that. Spector "over-produces" everything and it would be interesting at the least to hear Jackson sing over it.

I mean it's not unlistenable, but you wouldn't pick it as a PP beat. Really plain and dull.

Just go download "Black Pearl" by Sonny Charles and the Checkmates, and you've basically got your wish.
That's a song I'd like to hear Michael cover, but not pumped up. I think the thing he needs is something fairly spare if he wants to make a comeback. He definitely suffers from "more is morer" and should just cut it out.
