yo, i have been a huge fan since LTI and i'm just as excited as ever when they start talking about a new record. beasties never get old. you almost have to view this album sort of like ill communication in that they had zero momentum before CYH, then they had a lot of buzz and they were quick to follow up on it with sabotage and the lotsopoorloosers tour. they don't have quite the momentum this time even though TT5B was pretty solid. i don't think they really care though. these guys have permanent swagger. they have nothing to prove to any of these rap chumps today who let the latest hot producer come in and say " uh huh" over a the same beats. beasties are the gold standard of rap. not necessarily being the best mcs ever but these guys just have "IT" . just watch their letterman or conan appearances. rapping down the streets in NYC or 40 year olds doing the weave on conan. its all freakin classic. whats up with MCA hitting this late burst of creativity with the movie, producing, bad brains, etc... dude is just hitting his stride. mide d, coming strong with the fro. adrock still has the energy of a 6 year old on stage. i'm hoping they have a single or 2, where they pass the mic while on instruments. sort of sabotage/gratitude with more than just adrock and not the rock sound. just some funked out silly shit is what i'm hoping for. also, i think that the dog show was cool. it sort of told everybody, " we don't have any contemporaries, so we tour with dogs" this time, they should go with bad brains or somebody like that. also, beasties are always ahead of the curve in terms of marketing their stuff. they had the infomercial, i tunes was sort of new when they released check it out, anyway, they need to use the web creatively to promote this one.
