Do you like him? A lot of people are on about how he's keeping hip-hop alive and is the best rapper around at the moment. I got Tha Carter II last night after hearing him do some good guest appearances. I'm listening to it now, on the 2nd half, there's a handful of good tracks but nothing except "Best Rapper Alive" has really hit me as being special. Most of the time it seems like he's not even rhyming. So far OutKast and The Clipse are still the only acts from the South I've been able to take seriously.
What do y'all think? What's his best album that I could check out?

The first time I really heard him was on that Outkast song Hollywood Divorce and I thought he killed it and then I heard him nail another song on DJ Clue's new album, so I checked out Tha Carter II also.
Really the only song I think he kills is the second song Fly In. Fireman is just annoying and most of the other production I find pretty average.

Yeah I heard the OutKast and Clue ones too, thought he was something to check out. He murked Make It Rain too. But this album is nothing special.
So you people who like him, what other album should I get then?

Definitely download Dedication 2 (http://www.mixtapetorrent.com/dj-drama-lil-wayne-dedication-2)
I just started listening to Wayne a few months ago and people just hype him up to the point where it's kind of disappointing. He's okay and all but he should bite his tongue more often. I don't think there is such a thing as a "best rapper alive" but it sure ain't him.
I just got Like Father Like Son on vinyl the other day and while it has a few good songs, most of the production kills it. He needs to enlist a few better producers and he could have much better albums.

Still, "Stuntin Like My Daddy" is pretty damn fine.

Stuntin Like My Daddy and Make it Rain feat Fat Joe are both good. Also the song about Cali Dro.....
I think he is not the best rapper but his style is different so it makes him good. Plus he gots good beats....

he has very good word play, sometimes people listen but dont hear you know what im saying. im not saying thats definatly you, but possibly just keep listeing or check out the lyrics as you listen and i think youll be suprised by some of the wittyness he spits.

I definitely like Stuntin and Cali Dro, I can't really put a finger on why I like Cali Dro but it's probably that little kid sounding chorus or something...

I'll agree that he does have good wordplay at times but lots of people argue that he's nothing but punchlines.

I heard him on the radio yesterday on some song from Lloyd and I kinda just figured that the only time when he's really hype is whenever he's on someone else's song. I bought the original Tha Carter album and I heard the Birdman album and honestly, he can't sustain an entire album even if he's rapping with someone else, like Birdman.
